After Googling, i am now a snake expert like you Rog. The Puff Adder kills the most people in Africa. Russells Viper kills the most people in Asia, the Brown snake kills the most people in Australia. Ask me another question while this .... is fresh on my mind

Well i would not call myself an expert, although i do have 7 snakes and 3 spiders as pets and used to breed snake for the pet trade. The reason i consider the puff adder to be the most dangrous is because it tends to live where people live and unlike most snakes it does not move out the way when you aproach. Most snakes are are of you before you become aware of them, they tend to move. Puff adders dont, they lay there camoflaged and bite when stepped on. This accounts for most snake deaths in the reigons they habitat.

Yep - cobra is by far the biggest killer, but not the most venomous.



Edit - according to wiki there are a big 4 of snakes in Asia that account for most deaths in Asia including the Cobra and Russels Viper. Dunno what the other two are.

2nd edit - apparently the other 2 are the Common Krait and the saw-scaled viper.

Whoohoo!! Well I've been bitten by a snake on that list!! The last one on the list ..... but its on the list!!



Ok it wasn't in the wild. I was only about 10 at the time. It was supposed to hurt like a wasp sting but I can't remember it being all that painful. mainly cos I was more worried about what my mum was going to say if she found out I'd been handling snakes when she'd probably told me not to





And on all the stat.s,...... are you guys nuts!! The most deadly snake in the world is the one in front of you, who gives a stuff if 20 guys in india are having curry with a cobra when there's a brown snake coming at you ...... well that how they should be treated.
