Stoner begins to feel the stress

After reading the following, I was just wondering how much ice mind Stoner is:

"But I looked at the tyre afterwards and it was okay, so next time I know how hard I can push and not to be afraid of this kind of thing and not to be so cautious in the future."

He was teaching us how to not think about title but he seems to be dreaming with it already.

Last race I am sure Stoner was afraid too and create a psychologic nightmare with a non-existent lateral wind feeling and lose the race to his fear. Now, he simply lose the race to his fear again.

The man dominated the sessions and during the race creates an unreal enemy and concedes the race.

Really, to be championship leader is getting up on his head.

The wind feeling in my opinion was just an excuse because Rossi was invincible in Assen, but today i agree the tyres had some issues especially the bridgestones.

If there were no tire problems he would have kept up the pace instead of dropping 3 sec a lap. All the bridgestone riders dropped backwards, except Capirossi, and he had a different tire and looong experience in riding badly worn stones.

I think he just learned that he can push harder, but that wouldn't result in 3 sec better times. Maybe .5 or so.

interesting read - Capirex did choose a diferent compound than the others and i am wondering if after he read his pit board after rossis departure that he did start thinking about the bigger pic ( maturing rider perhaps ?? ) - we will never really know but i bet capirex was creaming his pants when he went passed him saying rembemer me !!

Stoner begins to feel the stress????
What stress??
<

He did a good job today, considering his tires weren't optimal.

we all go on about the tyres and the wind and the riders but i think he didnt want to win just so he didnt break the " Pole Jinx " record.

Of course, what else could it be????

I don't think its stress at all, i think its just an example of the fact that Stoner isn't invincible this year.

i dont think it was stress either.

He showed all weekend his pace ( Doohan Style )

michelins worked better this weekend . Apart from Loris

Exactly! Plus i think Capirossi really got his head together this weekend, he had a different engine to Casey again and he made a good call on tyres. But Casey did ok (maybe expected more) and i doubt the result will have a long lasting effect, especially knowing how many mistakes Rossi has been making and how he is clearly feeling the stress more!

I assume you talk about Stoner here? Capirex is mature enough I would say.

You don't think so hard about the bigger picture that you slow down 3 sec. Only trashed tires or engine failure make you do that.
But then again, according to some, it's all about the rider when he's out there, maybe he started to get really phillosophical out there.

i know your right about the 3 secs slower part.

According to the link his tyre it seems was ok to the eye but he felt it going away . maybe he was starting to think about the title. i am not sure but 5th was better than dropping it anyway imo.

and yes they dont come much more mature than capirex.

CASEY STONER, 5th place, World Championship leader on 196 points
"Today was a damage limitation exercise"

I think he's starting to look at the big picture.

Tire problems all riders had today. He absolutely drove cowardly this and last round.

Well, two races and Stoner let it pass. Let's see what he does in USA, because do nice in Free Pratice, QP and Warm-up does not assure win.

"Drove cowardly"? What are you talking about? For one thing you "ride" a motorcycle and for another he showed great maturity to not push too hard and bin it!

cowardly? ok

Capri rode fantastically, but he also had nothing to lose so he could push to his limits and get what he could. Stoner on the other hand has a championship to win, he rode the perfect race for the situation he was put in.

I'm talking nothing, who is talking is Stoner. Please, read the link in first post.

Stoner feared tyre would fail

Isn't Stoner who was telling us he is driving race by race?

I just read the link and I still don't see where you get this cowardly riding from? Nothing in the article says "cowardly" to me but, dunno I'm getting old I must need some glasses!

cowardly = fearful = be afraid.

(...)so next time I know how hard I can push and not to be afraid of this kind of thing(...).

Proceed?
