Lorenzo - I don't care about MotoGP championship

Jarvis' quote
"Do you know the contract of Vinales? Do you know whether Suzuki are letting him be free especially to do the test? I beg to differ [with the view that Suzuki could have stopped Vinales from testing]. I know also a little bit about what's going on with the contracts, and every contract is negotiated based on certain conditions.

I think Jarvis knows very well what's in the contract between Suzuki and Maverick and there's nothing Suzuki can do to prevent Maverick from testing with Yamaha. Yamaha's contract with Lorenzo forces them to continue to pay him until the end of December. I'm going to take a wild guess and assume Suzuki's checks to Maverick come to a halt after the Valencia race.

Based upon the language employed, I have to agree, that was the impression that I got too when I read it. Saying that, it may well be that for whatever reason that Suzuki have released their rider prematurely. At this stage it is mere conjecture but it could well have been a scenario in which Suzuki held all the cards. As I said, a covert mutual business arrangement would not be beyond the capabilities of either Jarvis or the reach of Yamaha. Purely my own supposition. It may well be as you suggest - applying the principle of occam's razor- that Mav is simply out of contract or has a release clause negotiated.

We don't want him but you can't have him?

Yamaha just gets better and better. Contracts are diffrent and they do own him but being such hypocrites...
Lorenzo is being allowed exactly the same concessions that Yamaha are giving Espargaro & Smith, who could potentially drive KTM to be a strong challenger to the Tech3 team next season.

Ducati gave Rossi too only the same consideration when he signed back with Yamaha in 2012. One test at Valencia.

Contracts are contracts

But as for Ducati when Rossi returned, was there not only one test (Valencia) post season as the number of private tests was restricted and all done after the winter closure (which if so would mean that Ducati allowed Rossi to test at all available tests)?
