Zarco Confirmed at Tech3

Now that silly season is basically over, when you look at the landscape, it is set up for a 2 year run of domination by Marquez. I just dont see Vinales matching what Lorenzo has done on the Yamaha, and dont see Lorenzo matching his Yamaha performance on the Ducati. I think the biggest question mark is who comes in third, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, or Vinales.

Rumor,Bradl set to take MVDM seat at Pata Honda teaming with Hayden,as VDM teams with Davies on the factory Ducati. Has VDM been told that the promised new Honda is not going to happen, or is he getting out from Haydens shadow now that Nicky is starting to beat him on a regular basis

I think a new CBR1000RR is coming because the CBR600RR is being axed since it won't meet the Euro4 requirements. 2017 will be the final year for the bike. They're lagging behind the R1, ZX-10R, and the soon to be here 2017 GSX-R 1000 in the superbike market....so they're going to want to step it up. 2018 would be the absolute latest if 2017 was somehow off.

VDM going to the Ducati is a smart move. It's a good bike, and I think he'd be well suited for it based on his aggressive riding style.

Stefan Bradl will be out of GP.

Stefan Bradl is poised to leave MotoGP and join Honda's World Superbike effort in 2017 after failing to reach an agreement to join the Avintia Ducati team.

The Spanish team had been courting Bradl to join Hector Barbera on one of its satellite Ducati machines after the German rider was informed by Aprilia that his services will not be required next season.

A source from within Avintia however has confirmed to Motorsport.com that negotiations with the 2011 Moto2 champion have failed to produce an agreement, meaning that the 26-year-old will now exit the premier class after five seasons.

Instead, he is set to join Nicky Hayden at the Honda Ten Kate squad in World Superbikes, a move that will mean Michael van der Mark leaves the team after two seasons.

The Dutchman is believed to be a prime target for Ducati's WSBK team, where he could replace Davide Giugliano, although he has also been linked to the Crescent-run Yamaha outfit.

Meanwhile, Loris Baz is now expected to be confirmed for a second season at Avintia alongside Barbera as a result of the team's failure to agree terms with Bradl.

That leaves Aspar as the only team still to determine its 2017 line-up. Talks with Alvaro Bautista are ongoing, while Yonny Hernandez and Eugene Laverty both also remain in the frame.

Bradl to leave MotoGP as Avintia talks fall through

I don't know what Avintia's options are for that seat. I think they should give Toni Elias a call personally.

Why take Elias over Baz?

Baz's size puts him at a disadvantage sadly. I really think the guy has plenty of talent to be there, but he's just at the opposite disadvantage that Pedrosa has.

Elias has been very good this year in AMA Superbike on the GSX-R 1000. Jum probably could attest to it firsthand, but Elias rode the wheels off that bike at Laguna even though he didn't win. His teammate was 15 seconds down the road while Elias was battling the Graves R1's which on paper are the best bikes on the series. I feel he'd be a good fit at Avintia and the Ducati personally with the Michelin tires.

Having Baz in GP certainly makes Kitty happy. She loves her some Frenchies.

Elias still has all the hunger in the world, and certainly is talented. Though I do think Elias could fit into GP, I think he's happy where he's at, highlighting a talent that was overlooked in GP.

My biggest concern is Nicky Hayden (as its always been). Stupid to stay with Honda who have done their best to anal blast him for years. Stupidest decision ever was to stay with Honda and not take the Wsbk Ducati seat. He could have done something special in racing history. He created a great buzz at Laguna. Too bad he's .... it down the drain.

Good for Van Der Mark, I wish the kid luck. I got a good look at him, and I gotta say, besides looking like a kid who'd you be proud to .... your daughter, he's got hunger and fire to win. These GP teams are fools to overlook him. I'd drop Pedrosa in a heartbeat and put VDM next to Marc. I could name 10 riders that I'd shitcanned to hire VDM, starting with Tito Albino (sorry Kitty, I know how much you like his Calvin Klein looks). VDM had the best form through the Corkscrew, and I was impressed how hard he pushed. Those mistakes he made were the result of fire to beat his teammate. Divebombing into turn 11 for position on Nicky, which thankfully didn’t work. But I can respect it. I do hope VDM goes to Ducati, because he will contend for the title straight away. I like Chaz, but VDM is superior.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Fair enough, but Elias has been given 3 chances at GP and 2 were pretty much a total screw up, he never seemed to adapt to the control tyres. I know Baz is big, but I'd like him to have another season on a similar bike to see how he goes.

I don't like baz, he looks strange. Jonny rea should be on that bike, or more preferably crutchlows

He also never got onto a factory bike when they were the only bikes to be on. It's only the last year or two that some of the satellite bikes have looked better, and more in particular this year it's been primarily the Ducati satellites.

No sense in giving up the factory Kawasaki ride for a satellite GP ride where you won't contend unless it rains.
True but he has done everything in Wsbk now. Why not try his hand at GP? He could always go back.

Bit like foggy I suppose, but I think Wsbk was in better shape in those days.

I think GP can be a career killer if you get on the wrong bike and then are forced to languish for a couple of seasons. Once you give up that Kawasaki factory ride, there's no going back after that because the seat will be filled. So any notion of parachuting back to SBK on that machine is no longer possible unless things somehow work out perfectly.

Smart money is to see how things play out over the next two seasons with the factory bikes in GP, and then depending on where things are, go for one of the lesser factory bikes; Suzuki or KTM. Only problem with Rea is he is 29 now. He be 32 at the start of the 2019 GP season. Not sure anyone would take a chance on him at that point outside of a satellite. If things are good at Kawasaki, he may just stay there for good, and I wouldn't fault him necessarily.

VDM on the other hand is the one that should be picked up by a GP team as Jum said. That no one has is just bizarre to me.

Its gonna be interesting to watch zarco in motogp. Looks like he is the best rider france ever have had.

Stefan Bradl out of MotoGP at season's end. Will be Hayden's teammate for 2017 most likely.

Stefan Bradl has confirmed he will leave the MotoGP World Championship at the end of this season.

The German stepped up to the premier-class as the reigning Moto2 title holder in 2012, scoring his only MotoGP podium and pole position with LCR Honda the following year.

Bradl switched to Forward Racing in 2015, then Aprilia from the middle of the season onwards.

But Aprilia have chosen an all-new line-up of Sam Lowes and Aleix Espargaro for 2017, with Bradl's MotoGP exit confirmed after negotiations broke down with Avintia Ducati.

“Next year I will not be in grand prix racing,” Bradl told Speedweek.com.

“I greatly appreciate the efforts made by Avintia, who have constantly improved their offer... But some details at Avintia did not fit, so there has been no agreement.”

The German is now set to switch to the World Superbike championship, with Honda the hot favourite to land the seven-time grand prix winner (five in Moto2, two in 125cc).

Bradl, who compared his decision to leave MotoGP with the successful switch from 125cc to Moto2 at the end of 2009, may not be the only rider moving from MotoGP to WSBK next season with Aspar's Eugene Laverty examining offers in both championships.

Despite Bradl's departure, Germany will still have one rider in the MotoGP class next season with rookie Jonas Folger joining Tech 3.

Bradl - ruled out of his recent home race due to a concussion - is 15th in the standings, three places ahead of team-mate Alvaro Bautista, who is expected to join Aspar Ducati.

Baz almost certain to retain Avintia ride, but on what bike is still tbd.

Loris Baz is set to stay at the Avintia Ducati team for the 2017 MotoGP season.

With Stefan Bradl no longer in contention, Avintia sources have confirmed to Crash.net that the Frenchman will remain.

However, Baz's machinery is not yet decided.

While team-mate Hector Barbera - seventh and the top Ducati rider in the world championship standings - will definitely upgrade from GP14.2 to 2016 Desmosedicis, talks are continuing over whether Baz will get the '16 or GP15 model.

A final decision should be made following meetings with Ducati at the forthcoming Austria round.

Baz, who spent his rookie season at Forward Racing, returned to action in Germany after missing three rounds due to a serious foot injury when he was taken down at turn one in Mugello.
