Its gonna be interesting to watch zarco in motogp. Looks like he is the best rider france ever have had.
I have been pondering this one. And I think Zarco will be successful on the T3. He has the speed and temperament to hang in there for the long haul and score points.
......
What kind of idiot would gives Bautista the newer bike over Laverty?!.....
LCR idiots who hire Cal while he is still in crash-winning mode? Maybe Laverty did it to himself by crashing in the last corner this past weekend. These second tier teams can't afford to keep fixing bikes like the factories. And they NEED points to get sponsors.

Laverty's crash was 100% Petrucci's fault. With that being said, I think Bautista is better than Laverty on a GP bike and probably brings more to the table sponsorship related money potential than Laverty.

Gotcha on the crash. I don't know about the sponsorships since there are enough Spaniards at the top of this series. He is certainly better looking than Laverty. :p
Bautista has had his chances in MHO
I agree. Is there a fear to try new riders? Better the devil you know than the chump that you do not.

As Povol said, beating me to the punch. Laverty's crash wasn't his fault and up until last Sunday he was one of only 3 riders to have a 100% points finishing record for 2016.

Regarding Crashing. Bautista has that title almost more than Crutchlow, if crash funds are Aspar's biggest concern, the last rider on the grid I'd pick is Bautista.

In my opinion Laverty is riding a superior bike and Bautista finishes ahead of Laverty more often than not. Laverty is ahead of him in points basically on that one fluke top 5

But Laverty is in his second season in MotoGP, and his first on the Ducati. The Ducati may be better than the Aprilia in your opinion, but the fact remains that he is riding a 2014 bike.

Bautista has been in MotoGP since 2010 and even when he had a Honda he didn't do much that was special.

He finished 5th and 6th, beating Rossi on the Ducati. That's pretty good in MotoGP. Although, he only has 3 thirds for all this time, and a ton more crashes. Rossi fans hate him, so that's a good enough reason to keep him around, I guess. JUST KIDDING. Maybe he should join Bradl at the new WSBK Ten Kate Honda retirement team.

I dunno. But, I get tired of the same guys and similar results year after year. The point system sucks sometimes. Look at Pedrosa doing virtually nothing this year but still in his usual top position. It's dumb. Give Binder Bautista's ride. Then Binder and Miller can hobble around together in the pits. ;)

Bautista confirmed at Aspar for 2017 and he will get a 2016 Ducati. Interestingly his team mate will only get a 2015 bike which will most likely make Laverty walk as he has said he will only stay if he gets equal machinery.

MotoGP News - Aspar confirms Alvaro Bautista for MotoGP 2017

I would say the answer is a Spanish idiot favouring a Spanish rider in a Spanish team,Laverty's misfortune is not being a Spaniard.

Sarron won a couple of GPs I think, in addition to his 250 title. and it's not as though the likes of Arnaud Vincent and Mike Di Meglio are likely looming large in the pantheon of greats.

However, this guy was always a crowd favourite long before there was so much of a scuff on a titanium elbow slider or Márquez was even a spuff on his Dad's Y-fronts...

Regardsing Zarco being possibly the best potential rider France has ever seen, in addition to the 125cc and 250cc titles across a range of codes, in my opinion it'll be a long time until we see a talent like the great Jean Michel Bayle.

What did Bayle ever do in road racing. He was decent, but i wouldnt put him in any kind of elite class when it came to pavement.

True, totally subjective view, but I've always felt though that after his aforementioned successes in motocross the fact he switched paradigms commanded great respect. After just one season in 250 he moved up to 500cc with a huge weight of expectation. It was the fact that he raced GP, motocross and endurance at a World and International level and also bagged three AMA titles. Road racing was admittedly underwhelming but when I think of French riders he is the name I always conjure up - unless you include enduro of which the obvious choice is Despres.

Sarron was a real win or bin merchant on the track but off track was one of the most polite and quiet gentlemen I've ever met. I was lucky enough to bag an invite to spend a day with his team in the '80s at Donington.
At the time he was the only European rider regularly competing against the American domination of the 500 class.

When it came to "pavement", Randy DePuniet is France's greatest ever road racer.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Yes, he spent some time on MotoGP pavement and gravel traps. Which is why France is happy to have croissants and quiche and not to be reliant on Randy for fame and fortune.

. As far as winningest French rider, Zarco has more wins than any French Rider in GP History. Sarron won 1 500cc race but only a handful of lower class compared to Zarco's 14 lower class wins. Depunter only has 5 wins in the lower class's.

I think you missed my joke.

The sad part is, I considered it as a joke, but the candidates for best French Rider are slim and DePuntef would be high on the list
