No, but absolutely you can tell for sure, I mean he ripped every other rider a new one throughout 2013 and 2014 so he would have to be able to. :D

So you are psychic and know for certain that the M1 would have perfectly suited him??

It is a reasonable supposition, since he has eventually become a winner, and mostly a dominant winner, in every class on every bike previously. Of course the same was thought true of Rossi when he went to Ducati, but as opposed to that Ducati the current Yamaha is hardly an unconventional bike.

I am as sure that it would suit him as you were that the M1 of today would have suited a 25 year old Rossi.

See the game ............ supposition ......... where we both talk out of our ..... about a topic for which there is no true or known answer

No no no Gaz lol, that's not what I said. I said if the Rossi of today had the same physical abilities he had when he was 25. His current knowledge of machnery and electronics, with his physical abilities of his youth.

No you didn't.

You said that if Rossi of today was the same Rossi as he was in his prime (which you listed as 2005) he would smoke other M1 riders ........... you also seem to overlook that the 25 year old Ross was an extremely experienced rider and contributor to the race day setup of bikes and thus it does not go that exponentially he would be that much better - is fact (not saying this in VR's case) but it could also be well thought that the reverse is true - at times one becomes so overburdened that they find it difficult to nail down an item or object

SO you really believe a Rossi at age 25 would not be better than a Rossi at 36, with a current M1???

I believe that Rossi would be as good and may be even better, but you have to consider that a lot has changed since Rossi was 25 years old, not least being the level of competition together with multitudes of technological changes to the bike and tyres.

Just as some riders fade when things change, whilst Rossi has endured what cannot be certain is how a 25 year old Rossi would react in today's world as afterall, the off track distractions are also now greater and have seemingly had an effect

Gaz I'm not talking about any outside distractions. I'm simply talking about him having the physical capabilities of his 25 year old self. Better reflexes, etc.

Reflex wise, probably better ......... and whilst your comment of yesterday is generally true that reflexes slow with age, there is also anecdotal (possibly scientific) evidence that suggests that not ALL people slow down at the same rate with some maintaining high degrees of reflexes and co-ordination well beyond the standard mean of the test.

But, before one suggests that he would be better you do quite simply have to look at all of the extracurricular stuff that occurs today as with that work comes opportunity for distraction etc, and thus to categorically state is supposition at it's best.

Would Rossi win races today were he to be 25 again .......... .... yes as , after all he was winning races a few months back at 36/37 so yes he would win races.

Would he dominate ......... my opinion is no for a number of reasons pertaining to his competition of today being of a higher standard in terms of quantity and approach than that of years past (and this is as a result of Rossi himself setting and raising the bar)

Would anyone dominate were all of the greats to be 25 again and ride ...... I suspect that the results would be surprising as many riders from years past are very underestimated by many of today's followers

Rossi at the age of 25 didnot have a young enough competition then!
Rossi's biggest rivals were Biaggi, Gibernau, Capirossi from 2001 to 2006. Biaggi, Gibernau and Capirossi were all 30, 29 and 28 in 2001 whereas Rossi was 22 and they raced against him till 2006. (Biaggi till 2005 , Gibernau till 2006 and Capirossi till 2011.

Rossi was 25 in 2004. Biaggi was 33, Gibernau was 32 and Capirossi was 31!

So if a 25 year old Biaggi, 25 year old Gibernau and 25 year old Capirossi competed against a 25 year old Rossi, then Rossi would not have won any championships? :D

Let's forget about that for a minute and try something else. What rider from the past, if we could magically bring them back (at their prime or best, whatever you want to call it), would be most competitive today?

Great news for me, I now can get Lorenzo and Ducati merchandise together!

Haha! I've already got a red Lorenzo T with only his personal branding on it... Now I know where I can stitch on my Ducati crests!!

Jorge: "Its doobie time."

Kropo is reporting on his twitter feed (Via a retweet) that Ducati are likely to announce Lorenzo's team mate for 2017 this weekend, and it won't be Iannone.
