Silly Season 2012

When Cobas looked at Vincents and others frameless concepts he saw the merit, but times have changed, every other component is very different from the 80's we have twice the power and many times the grip level and feel is the issue, the concept could still work with a massive amount of resources and development but Ducati havnt got that,VR/JB ditched the project when i believe they should have continued as they may be closer than they are now.

IMO they dismissed it after a full season with the control tyre and the lack of useful adjustment-hindered massively by then engine limit reg. Yes it may work with a different donk, but that hasn't changed yet either. So the question is how long would it have taken to develop it into a seriously competative machine under the current regs? 1....2....5 years? Where will Honda and Yamaha be then?

Burgess and Rossi have a few more years experience at the sharp end than Ducati.

.... you Ducati

I wouldn't doubt there was some remote control shenanigans on that penultimate lap. I expect a few more mystery electronic glitches throughout the season. I read Audi personnel were on hand at the German GP, how convenient that Nicky suddenly dropped back behind Rossi who he had been schooling all event. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hayden and Rossi on talent are about equal, and I'd give the edge to Nicky. And if anybody wants to review my takes on the political influence, favortism, and superior tires that gave VR the edge on his titles, its all there if you search. Peeps have drank the coolade, not his fault but Duc will continue to fail because of it. You won't need to look very far as to the inclinations of the series, its still happening today with the arbitrary rules written with magic erase markers. The farce that is GP continues. Good on you Casey Stoner for saying a big .... you to the series. Its all ........! Have a nice day.
<

Your theory that the only reason Hayden's results are not as good as Rossi's due to favouritism etc., rather than Rossi having more talent & racecraft does not stand up to scrutiny IMHO on a couple of points which have nothing to do with whether Rossi beat him, rather that other riders on similar machinery did.

Firstly, and most tellingly, in 2005 Melandri beat Hayden to 2nd in the WC on a Gresini Honda (which was probably a factory bike, admittedly, but without the factory team structure). Secondly, in 2003 (Hayden's rookie year) he took two 3rds and finished a respectable 5th in the WC. 2004 (when the bike should not have changed significantly, especially at the start due to Honda insisting that it was the bike and not the rider), he had a shocking season, still two 3rds, but last Honda in the WC.

I am not trying to take anything away from Hayden's WC in 2006, nor am I suggesting that Ducati are doing the right thing by letting Hayden go. I hope he goes to WSBK on something reasonably competitive and blitzes the field.

Finally official. Repsol Honda announces that Marquez and Pedrosa will be in the factory Honda team for 2013 and 2014

(kropos tweet)

spalding (..... IMO) and noyes tweeting about hayden and dovi (!?) going to wsbk

did i miss something?

if spies gets another contract at yam or tech3, they also have smith but need a 4th rider.

with crutchlow going to ducati....one of the duc guys going (back) to yamaha?

i'd love to see lorenzo vs rossi again , but then again i'd like to see hayden get on a competitive bike again, its been quite some time

the latter probably. whats with the hostility though, you're his wife or why can't i state my opinion about him?

he's said a couple of things with which i don't agree, some of them belittling world superbike just as an example

jesus christ, i didn't know hes the ultimate motorcycle authority and not only do i have to believe everything he says but i also must take the same opinion.

Didnae notice this before i posted, DOH!

Scary though, Marquez makes Pedders look normal size.....

Real question is ........ who's taking the 2nd Yamaha seat? Dovi? Could still be Rossi? Or Cal!!?? that would be something!

WHo takes the Tech3 seat? Spies ? Bautista?

what puzzles me is noyes talking about dovi going to wsbk

i thought it was more or less all settled with crutchlow going to ducati , leaving lorenzo, spies, dovi and smith as the 4 yamaha riders.

i've heard spies is more or less safe at yamaha (factory or tech3 with factory support), that means maybe dovi needs to wait until rossi makes a move at laguna at the latest.

bautista will stay at gresini i think.rossi on a honda is something i can't imagine anyways by now,if he leaves ducati it will be for the factory yamaha seat.

DANI PEDROSA

"I'm very happy to be able to announce my renewal with the Repsol Honda Team for the next two years. It's been a very long relationship with Honda and I had a strong desire to stay here. The fight for the Championship this year is still open and the next two seasons will be very interesting for me. My whole career has been linked to Honda, since I entered into the World Championship in 125cc, then in 250cc and since 2006 in MotoGP. I'm perhaps one of the riders with the longest history with Honda, which makes me feel very proud. I want to thank HRC once again for their support; I'm sure that we have great things to do together".

“To reach MotoGP next season with Repsol Honda is a dream come true and I want to thank HRC for their confidence in me. I am very proud to be a part of the big Honda family for the future and I don’t want to forget all the people have helped me since I began to ride motorbikes. Now my focus is on Moto2 where my team and I are working very hard and we are excited to achieve our goal, which is to win the World Championship in 2012.”

SHUHEI NAKAMOTO - HRC EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

"We are very pleased to renew our contract with Dani and welcome Marc to the Repsol Honda Team. Dani is enjoying a very strong season and currently fighting with Casey and Lorenzo for the Championship, we are very pleased with his performance. Marc has already proved how fast he is in 125cc and Moto2, and we believe that, giving him the right time to adapt to the new class, he will also be able to show this in MotoGP in the future".

I just dont see the factory Yamaha team upsetting the apple cart to sign Rossi. They already have the odds on favorite to dominate the sport for the foreseeable future, why risk pissing him off to appease Rossi or Dorna. Lorenzo says all the right things in public regarding Rossi, but i would bet big money he has let it be known that he wants no part of him as a teammate. Maybe a Tech 3, but im skeptical that will even happen. He will pocket his 15-20 million for a couple of more seasons at Ducati, and go to the house

i think yamaha would be happy to let rossi be remembered as a yamaha guy (as long as he doesn't demand too much money etc of course)

and also i really believe lorenzo would like to beat rossi. as long as there is no wall , unequal treatment or something like that i think he would enjoy cementing his place as one of the best ever by beating rossi.
