Silly Season 2012

Dovi changed his style last year to try and ride like Stoner or at least Stoner's chassis. This year he has had to significantly change his style to a 250 style which is what suits the Yamaha. If it is true and he has signed for Ducati then he will set about changing his style to suit the Ducati. Dovi may not be as talented as Lorenzo, Stoner, Pedrosa and Rossi but he is determined. I think he has the ability, the determination and the balls to give the Ducati a good crack. I don't believe the Ducati can only be successfully ridden by Stoner's style. Dovi will find a way to make it work enough to get it on the podium occasionally. He also will ride it as it is and not be demanding wholesale changes and then just circulate will he waits for them to happen. I would be willing to bet that he beats Hayden over the course of the season.

you make good points (with which i agree for the record) but i'm willing to take you up on that bet!

i didn'T mean to slack dovi for his possible move to ducati, i just can't see him winning races or the championship on it.

i'd agree that dovi probably would have the measure of hayden on the yamaha ,also the honda. but on the ducati i place my bets on hayden.

all these guys are adaptable (pedrosa is the prime example with his technique of pulling the bike up) just because theyre undoubtetly the best, but i can't ignore melandris and rossis results. the duc needs to be ridden hard and loose.or at least it used to be

yeah yeah you guys are like rossi. a lot achieved in a big amount of time.

but i'm the real stoner.

Dovi to the Duc!!

Kropo says...

"An announcement on who will replace Valentino Rossi at Ducati appears imminent. As we mentioned last week, Andrea Dovizioso agreed to take the factory Ducati seat vacated by Rossi's departure for Yamaha. His signature, it appears, was subject to certain conditions, though. According to reports in the Italian media, Dovizioso demanded guarantees of support and development from Audi before putting pen to paper.

Italian TV station Mediaset is now reporting that Dovizioso has now received those guarantees, and has signed a two-year deal to ride for Ducati in 2013 and 2014."

Good luck to him. Its his only factory option and has nothing but upside (unless everything tanks!).

barbedwire...In my opinion Ducati need another engineering angle and Audi is a good company to provide it, I'm not sure money was the issue these past two years?

I agree, I actually now firmly believe that Rossis departure from Ducati was because they do not have the talent to make the necessary changes. They need to poach people from Honda or Yam, as they already have tried with Masao it seems as though they now know this too. Honda and Yam have both done it, and the consistent updates of chassis, engines etc even a whole new bike for Honda midseason, means that they have the people who usually know how to turn rider feedback into a better race bike.

Resources can only get you so far if your all out of ideas, and Ducatis major problem is its lack of fit with the control rubber. If they had their own tyre supplier, then the story would be much different.
