SEPANG: 2nd Official MotoGP TEST

More snippets from the final press releases from Paddock Talk and MotoGP.com:

Aoyama:
"... today we took a big step forward and we found good base settings,” said Aoyama. “My feeling with the bike improves every time and I am confident we will find a good direction for Qatar..."
Yeah, any bigger step and he'd have stepped OVER Pedro & Dovi!!!

"In the afternoon I had to stop for a while because I was not feeling well. I think I drank something wrong."

Tech Trois:
Collie:
"I want to thank my guys at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 again for all their hard work and congratulate Ben too. This is a tough track to learn but he's doing a great job and he is impressing a lot of people. We're working really closely together and that is going to be great to help the team have another great year."
Team Friendly Fun!!!

"I'm convinced I had the speed to get into the high 2s, but I was only able to use one of the softer Bridgestone tyres. But all in all it has been a positive day and the gap to the front has become smaller again."
Yes it does... Fast learner this guy... Faster rider... hmmm

Nicky:
"The arm wasn’t too bad but it still isn’t as strong as before, which I can feel more than anything in the hard braking, and it was hard work today. Anyway, I am recovering well and now we move on from Sepang feeling really happy.”
Perfect arm and Nicky could have gone FASTER... I bet you're happy Nicky!!!

Simoncelli"
“I hit my head and didn’t remember where I was or what had happened. Afterwards I gradually started to recover and now I can remember the crash, although not every detail of it.”
Ouch!!!
“I seem to remember losing the front of the bike but I was still in control, but then I lost the back as well and I came off the bike.”
It's all coming back to me now!!!
"It was during my first exit this morning that at turn seven, I lost the front, I tried to keep the bike but I lost the rear and then I had a high side. Now I’m feeling much better."
God, I'm glad someone told me what happened... this was getting embarrassing...
"Today we can say that we didn’t test as I completed only 2 laps.”
And, oh, yeah, I'm the slowest rider out there...

Pedro:
"So, there’s plenty for us still to do before Qatar. I can’t say that eighth is where I want to be on the timesheets at the end of this test..."
Master of understatement!!!

Judging on this, and your sig. Slev I'm guessing you wouldn't have the slightest idea of what to do if you ever met a woman

and do not get me wrong okay,is not like i want stacey to be out for 3 months again, we need every rider to be 100% for the whole season(that way there wont be any excuses whatsoever).but i really think that rossi could get on stacey's nerves once again

I am glad you were joking; it was getting somewhat lurid with the involvement of you, stoner, stoner's cousin, stoner's wife, sundry barramundi and (given the locale) possibly saltwater crocodiles. You are not nick cave by any chance?, not that even the outback melodrama he scripted a few years ago was quite as lurid (or unpleasant) as the film to which you are presumably referring by your forum identity.

Was that a funny witty come back by a stoner fan? Why yes I think it was. But you do realize you are alienating the rest of the fan club.

Man, is Honda ever going to figure out 800's? They might be better served ditching it to develop a 1000cc bike for 2012. Might be some lost years from now to there, but it clearly hasn't been working for them and they need to go back to the drawing board.

And to recall who were the main contributors for an 800cc change from 990cc… Big H! Ridiculous isn't it? Hayden didn't even fit in that 'Barbie' cycle made for Pedrosa. First Rossi leaves them clueless, then they put all their eggs in one basket (small one), then it breaks in their face. I bet by Silly Season Honda will be putting tons of cash in Rossi, Lorenzo and Stoner's faces, or who ever proves to be up there too. Not that it will solve their problem, but at least try to stop the fall.

Screw Yamaha and their inline 4 wizardry!!! Don't they know that the V4 is THE racing engine at this level. Too see that clearly all they have to do is look behind themselves...where everyone with a V4 is. Cripes! They seem to evolve in a way that has them put in improvements and keep the best of what they had from the previous year so well. I see podiums littered with Yamaha's and like last year 2 at a time could be common.

Honda has not put together a competitive bike at the same level and now they have changed suppliers for a fundamental system in their chassis. The engine seems okay but there again they have to redo all the controls given the new system they employ not to mention the new tech guys input. I see this taking another year to come together. By mid summer they will be looking for new talent. Spies will get calls every day.

Ducati have put together a machine that does really well at Sepang and that is kind of a bogeyman course for them. Not so for Yamaha so even though Stoner couldn't match Rossi's times (for various reasons) this puts him in good stead for overall success and I see it as a daunting result for Yamaha. If Nicky can regain his front line composure the series gets even more interesting because he is good for 2 wins a year on a bike he feels good on. I see Stoner fighting for wins every race and Nicky is still largely an unknown for me. Spies is going to get offers from every major team, this will be his choice if Yamaha keeps him on Tech 3 for more than one year IMO.

Yes, Yamaha know that a V4 is the preferred racing engine, that's why they developed the crossplane crank. The engine is basically a 90-degree V-4.

The narrow-angle V4s are the steaming-piles of dog excrement. The Ducati and the Yamaha are quite good bikes.
