San Marco SIC Marino GP: Prediction, Practice, Qual - WARNING THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, WHO

The good news for the CS fans is that any team orders or CS helping Dani should be out the window now. Casey has the all clear to win as much as he wants and I have a feeling he's gonna be tearing it up for you guys(his fans). It shouldn't be any other way because the CS vs VR arguments should go on until the end of time for us, and you guys will need some more ammo.

I thought it was over by Tuesday, 9 November 2010, around 12.20pm?

Weird... I can hear crickets chirping on this thread. Is there anybody out there (cue echo reverb).

I'll be bold (since Ben has changed the title, thanx ben) and start to ramble on about the race. Weird start... was smsing my buddy back in Canada and neither of us could remember a more bizarre turn of events as the lights were set to go. I still have no idea of what Abraham's issue was (stalled?) but Dani's tech's seemed to be having an issue with the tyre warmed being stuck under the front fender. Its seemed, to me, that they got a little panicked and wheeled the bike off the grid to dislodge it... Not sure, will wait for official version!

Anyway, props to Bautista and Rossi! Jorge - did what was needed. Barbera, you are the arse of the day! Nicky's still the tough foot soldier out there. Cal and Ben are becoming frustratingly wearisome to me, potential unfulfilled. Rea... didn't take anyone out!?!?!

I'm starting to think its roll on 2013 time and hope the rest of this season still has some excitement and surprises left for us (as Hawk said Casey's now free to unleash his wrath on all of MtoGPdom when he recovers!).

Even with everything else that was happening, defenitely the suprise of the day for me.

It is now known as powerslide's law. The longer a discussion goes on it becomes inevitable that a reference will be made to Rossi vs Stoner.

I referred only to lorenzo vs stoner, and lorenzo vs rossi

Perhaps the more diciplined Brits are waiting for the eurosport coverage?

Devastated for Pedrosa today, such a shame for the championship battle. I'm convinced Dani was going to win today, who knows maybe he can still claw back the points. After assen It's kind of 1 - 1 now in a sense but at this stage in the season it just seems so cruel.

Excellent to see Rossi back near the front, easily the best a Ducati has looked for a long time, hopefully it will carry on and set next year up nicely. Bautista too did very well and finished off a very fitting podium.

Spies probably shouldn't bother with the rest of the season, it just isn't happening for him at all. Rea did well and kept things sensible which was good to see, unlike Cal's ride. He seems to have a lot of trouble passing Dovi, I don't like it.

When I finally stopped being pissed about Barbera the race got a little interesting. I didn't think anyone was gonna get around Rossi and I suspect we'll be seeing plenty off him behind Jlo next season. Bautista was highly impressive considering the bike he's on and the talent behind him, it was a strange race even excluding the first lap and start cluster ..... Cal just needs to get it together a little more and I think he could be somebody in GP, he's fast just needs to stay upright. The tires seemed to really play a part in this race with the battle for third. While I'm no CS fan I do want to see him come out swinging and remind these guys that he's still the fastest. I'll put my bias aside and enjoy the show, I'd hate for anyone's career to end on a bad note. I'm talking like the season is over thanks to Barbera, ....... ........

Well I enjoyed the race, apart from Cal not finishing of course. I was just getting right into it when my aunt decided to phone up for a catch up, she's 85, I couldn't really avoid it, so I ended up only seeing half the race! Oh well. I was pleased to see Rossi do well and actually to see the race start after that false start of course. Felt really and for Pedrosa, talk about bad luck, first the bike issue then getting punted off like that.

All in all I enjoyed it and will be watching a lot more!!

I think that has put to bed all the talk about Rossi being washed up.

Watch out Lorenzo - 2013 may not be the cake-walk people have stated.

Could you elaborate? I'm not getting it!

Cal's body language after the aborted start concerned me. He looked like he was going to punch someone. By contrast, Jorge looked so bloody laid back, just unflappable. I said to Debs then, Cal's gonna bin it. He needs to reign it in a bit, he is a great rider, and a real character, but, his hot headedness concerns me. Agree with Tom on this.

Great result for Vale, closer than he's been, maybe they have found something on the Duck.

Jorge, so bloody easy for him, the future of motogp no doubt.

Ben? Go to Suzuki and run a number 21, you are ...... Arse kicked by satellite Yam again. The real Hopper deserves that bike more than some half arsed Hopper tribute act. At least go to BSB and regain some dignity like your hero.

OK - I'll settle for Kropo's confirmation!!

David Emmett ‏@motomatters

PED put to back of grid because his bike was pushed off grid after 1 minute board was shown. Pushed off grid because front wheel blocked

does this at least mean we can let estoril 06 go ?

he's been a very clean ride ever since, or at least i can't remember him doing something stupid/unfair.

there goes the championship...

bit disappointed by bradl going backwards at the end, maybe his tyres? was really hoping for a first podium today.

at least moto2 and moto3 offered some great racing today.check those races out if you haven't already.

mature ride by rea , i'm very optimistic that he will do just fine at aragon if the weather is good enough for him to have some real track time BEFORE qual and race.

what happened to rossi?

he looked like he actually tried riding that bike for the first time. good to see

edit: technically, thats the first time rea beat crutchlow

No...pedrosa stalled on the first warmup lap and had to be pushed as did abraham...when dani lIined back up he was paniced as he kept looking down and fiddling with his bike...he twists the throttle and nothing just as the start was mysteriously stopped. Obvious as hell. Then he had further misfortunes during the restart...but you can't cheat twice without it being obvious, so dorna had to let it ride. Abraham had problems too and became the convenient scape goat.

Speed coverage here in the states conveniently left off the initial Pedrosa problems and blamed it on Abraham, but online streaming showed it all.

Incorrect - dreadful post

I think that has put to bed all the talk about Rossi being washed up.

I'm not aware that anyone has suggested he's washed up. There has been much speculation over his motivation and indeed the effect of Marco's passing and the broken leg at Mugello - but that is pure conjecture. Most that are critical is due to the fact that by practically by his own admission he hasn't been giving 100% until Ducati can give him competitive machinery and after a lacklustre two years he has been gifted a return to Yam. Personally I always wished he had stayed at Yamaha and await next year with great anticipation irrespective of the politics regarding his leaving and now return.

Saying that, a great ride by Rossi today. The new swing arm and headstock adjustability seems to have given him the wider parameters he needs. Yes the absence of Casey, the very .... turn of events for Dani the two day test in the dry here a fortnight ago combined with the washed out Friday certainly assisted him and I commend him on his well fought fourth, sorry second place at his home circuit. Once Valentino gets back on that M1 - front end feel restored - I except him to be a title protagonist again. Love to see him beaten but hate to see him uncompetitive. However undeserved many feel the ride is - it will be great to see him back at his best again. I liked the dedication to Marco and the props to his team.

This race was Dani's - a sequence of events have contrived again to .... up his championship bid although I acknowledge that Lorenzo was also taken out earlier in the season. Fabulous work by his team to solve the brake problem - we were denied the wonderful spectacle of his charge from the rear of the grid. I reckon he could have caught but not passed Jorge.

Great to see three different manufacturers on the podium today.

Mat Oxley tweeted that Dani's tyre warmer had welded itself to the front disc, sounds like mechanic panic to me.

Kharma.....I don't know, but last time Dani did the torpedoiing, the torpeedo'e went on the win the championship. Championship isn't over yet 5 races left and anything can happen.

Not sure I agree, Jorge can literally follow Dani home for the title now. Even if Repsol Honda start getting 1-2's all the time podiums will pretty much do the trick. Jorge just needs to stay out of trouble.
