I, like you, just found this forum recently and glad that there are people here that share my opinion that rossi is a phony. talented, yes, but still a phony. For years, he was beating lesser opponents (doesnt mean he wasn't a great rider. he is), and when the likes of pedrosa, stoner, lorenzo and marquez show up and start challenging him, he didnt like it one bit. That good guy with the fun loving persona he has always carried over the years slowly disappeared and revealed its true color. His meltdown at sepang 2015 was epic.
I was a rossi's fan ever since he came to motogp with the yellow nsr500. Over the years, I totally enjoyed his domination over other riders and overlooked some of his rough moves on others (like the moves on Gibernau or Stoner) and just chalked them up to racing is rubbing. I just thought he is the best and could beat anybody on any bike, even if he rides a bicyce !! I started to have "doubt" about his "greatness" when lorenzo began to challenge rossi. rossi put up a wall and divided the garage so the info couldnt be shared. To me, it was a sign of weakness. By putting up a wall, it showed that rossi was scared. Finally someone was beating him and he tried to push lorenzo out by telling yamaha, either lorenzo or me, and we all know how that ended up. Rossi went to ducati for a disatrous two years. Came back to yamaha with tail between his legs and hat in hands asking for a ride. I still liked him (among with a couple other riders), albeit not as much as before but when I saw his meltdown at sepang 2015 and subsequent whining in Valencia after losing the title, i completely fell off his bandwagon. I wasn't a fan of lorenzo before but I am now. At least lorenzo has never pretended to be a "good" guy. I have always suspected that rossi's bromance with marquez was an act, a fake. Rossi has never been a friendly guy with riders who are better or capable of beating him. I hope lorenzo stays at yamaha and make sure rossi will not get a 10th title for the next three years.
TLDR: rossi is a fraud.
