Regarding Uccio's proud revelation that he spotted the PI misdoings, I'm not so sure..
I think this is all a ruse to exonerate VR somewhat and try and cleanse his reputation after his ridiculous behaviour at Sepang.
Many journalists and commentators, even the terribly biased bunch on BT Sports were saying that VR had lost the plot and looked stressed out and crazy during his Sepang Pre race press conferences. During the race they were saying he deserved black flagging and disqualified for his actions. It wasn't until after the race and the great Dorna machine swung into action that they changed their tune.
Indeed Neil Hodgson stood outside race control for hours to try and interview any riders or team members. None went by him, only MM and VR were there and they were inside, but soon Hodgson was claiming Lorenzo was up there screaming and demanding Rossi wasn't being punished enough. He had no footage of Lorenzo entering the building and indeed the guy wasn't there as he'd been ushered back to his garage by the team in an effort to keep things calm. This was a plain effort to try and paint Lorenzo as the bad guy and detract from Rossi's misdoings, sure he made a knee jerk reaction with the thumb down gesture, but that was in the moment and only seconds after being told about it by Dani Pedrosa in the upstairs corridor and seeing the action on a wall mounted tv just before being called out to the podium.
Not once during any interview or press conference did Rossi allude to Uccio's inclusion in his revelations on PI. It's my opinion that Uccio's taking the fall somewhat for VR whether voluntarily or under orders from his PR machine.
The reason Rossi is still bleating about it all is because like a spoilt child, he knows he's wrong, but the more he says he was right, the more he thinks he is convincing people he was right.
To me, a once great champion and great rider (he's still a great rider) had no reason to be so nasty and vindictive to his rivals over the years. The guy should have done all his talking on the track. Sure he's still got millions of fans, but he's lost a lot on the way too...
Many will remember him for the Sepang incident and not for some of the wonderful performances he's put in over the decades, a great shame.
