I can't wait for the day he retires. I'll quietly crack a beer, say well done and congratulations, then cheer as the Pied Piper (Rossi) hopefully leads the rats out the gate of the city, never to return. I've had more than enough of the "Cult of Rossi" over the last few years.

Unfortunately, I think we are going to be stuck with Rossi's ugly mug on telle long after he retires. He will be at most races, right in front of the camera as often as possible, loving the adoration and attention for many many years. Prepare yourself for many live camera cut aways during a race to see Rossi's warm, smiling, happy face, followed by the interviews to hear his thoughts on absolutely everything.

No team manager, or whatever he ends up, has a fan base. He will be quickly forgotton by most of the Valeban once he isn't on track winning races for "his fans".

Edit for beer grammer.

I just wish he had gone after winning the 2009 title.

I had no animus against him then, and would even have happily acclaimed him the GOAT.

He has held the sport to ransom since then imo, and after what he fomented against MM and Lorenzo I retrospectively blame him, and not just the crazy element among his fandom as was the case in 2009, for the persecution of several other riders prior to them as well.

Roll on the days when the Spanish .... heads no longer run motogp, all we need are 2 or 3 reasonable educated people not the peasants and it'll be turned around.

But, no team manager or whatever he will become has ever entered the job of team manager with such a large fanbase to start with, so for mine much of the fanbase will transfer with the new role which will maintain the 'status' VR will have in the sport.

In addition, no person has become a team manager with his current seeming level of influence within the sport (I should state there the modern sport).

Whilst he will not be on track winning fans I am prepared to say that he will receive near as much air time as a manager or whatever, as he does as a rider and that people within DORNA will ensure that he remains relevant to the sport as he is, after all, their cash cow so the more he is on tv, the better for the pockets
