Michelin have plants in China, Singapore and Tokyo as well. It still means FA.

you said

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>By my reckoning there are 2 rounds in Asia where it MIGHT be feasible to fly in tyres - China and Malaysia. How many in Europe are feasible for michelin? England, Holland, Germany, Italy, San Marino, Portugal, Valencia, Jerez, Catalunya, Czech Republic and possibly Turkey and Qatar. Seems like michelin had more than a fair advantage.

im saying this is not the case both companys were more than capable of doing overnighters to most places around the world, geez try to pay attention son.

I presume that the skunkworks and personnel that manufacture racing tyres are horrendously expensive; as you imply michelin did not manufacture overnight tyres in their asian plants for the asian rounds.

I thought one of the reasons for the tyre rule change was to reduce costs, although in the way of things in motogp and F1 this probably hasn't happened.

I wouldn't disagree with roger's basic argument that michelin are now disadvantaged, and this should be changed.

All I want to see is the tyre rules changed so that there are more choices, say 40 choices, to be nominated after the first practice session, and for no overnight specials to be bought in. It's not too much to ask for - much fairer for all parties concerned.

i agree with that.

cant say fairer than that....very logical....

and dorna is famous for logical thought......

wish this tyre situation would go away so we can concentrate on the racing(or lack thereof)again...

I don't agree, Michelin where too dependant on the fly in tyre while Bridgestone were perfecting not doing it. So its unfair to Michelin altho they should not have been doing it that way in the first place. Michelins should just leave MotoGP instead of spoiling the show

Bridgestone set to confirm Rossi deal

By Toby Moody Friday, October 19th 2007, 09:51 GMT

Valentino Rossi looks set to switch to Bridgestone tyres for 2008, with paddock sources at Sepang indicating that a deal has been finalised with the Japanese company.

The former champion wanted the same tyres as title winner Stoner for next year after the problems he encountered with Michelins throughout this season.

Finishing 30 seconds behind US GP winner Stoner, and yet still being fourth and the top Michelin finisher at Laguna Seca was believed to be the final straw for the Italian.

Autosport.com understands that the deal is done and that the paperwork just needs to be signed and sealed ready for an announcement next Wednesday.

Rossi's move is likely to avert the possibility of a single tyre rule being implemented in MotoGP. A decision had been due on this matter during the Sepang weekend, although with just 18 days remaining before the end of the season it seemed unlikely to be adopted.

The deal means that Rossi will be the sole Yamaha on Bridgestones and therefore the first-ever Yamaha MotoGP bike to use them, while the other three works Yamahas next year will continue on Michelins.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There you have it. Rossi on Bstones and the rest of the Yamahas on Michelins. Now we will see if Colin Edwards has the goods...
He willl be the lone guy with extensive tyre experience and setup for the bikes. If he doesn't finish ahead of JT and JL.........

hmmm... i wonder how lorenzo's gonna react to this? his contract stats equal equipment as rossi. i'm guessin tires don't count as equipment.

If tis true, that sucks.

He should ride what his teammates do, not get special treatment.

What are you talking about?, of course he should get special treatment, he's 7 times world champion for gods sake. Any team with a rider of Rossi's stature would do whatever it took to get him back on winning form, and quite rightly so.

I can't see who could have possibly pushed for this except fo Rossi/Ezpeletta, it's a very strange move. How could Yamaha be anything but dead against it? What's the ....... point of having four M1's on the grid, Michelin full of motivation and a real reason to show they've still got it after a dismal(ish) 2007, Michelin's top tyre tester amomg them in the shape of Colin Edwards, when all of a sudden 'golden balls' declares he wants and must have and will be getting Bridgestones, despite all political moves previously. Why should Yamaha bother gathering any data at all? What a waste of money to go racing with the other three guys? Just field a one man team with Rossi, did I say team, sorry, just send Rossi and Uccio up the ....... road in a van on their own with a couple of M1's in the back, he can do it all by himself. Yamaha top-brass have got to be pissed off alright. If Loreno goes well on Michelins, or let me put it another way, if Rossi fails to deliver with his shiny new bridgestones, how would that change the dynamic in the Yamaha garage? Rossi's lost it, for purely selfish reasons I hope it works out and we get a great season next year but it could backfire completely. Maybe it'll go down as one of the bravest and most inspired moves he ever made, who knows. I definitely don't think all his problems are going to be solved by switching tyres.

If bridgestone have only got room for one yamaha rider to be on their tyres then i wonder who deserves to get them ??? (no contest I think). ANY rider in the paddock would get themselves the best bike+tyres if they could so whay all the fuss ? Presumably, due to all the success Rossi has given Yamaha over the years they feel they owe it to him and why not ? At least there'll be one less excuse if he can't match Stoner next year.

skint

Obviously Rossi is the one pushing for this. Yamaha will obviously want to have all bikes on the same tyres, but if Rossi says Bstones or bye bye they have to let the prima donna get what he wants.

SINGLE TYRE SUPLIER PLEASE!!!!!!

I guess if he doesnt win next year he can demand Stoners bike.Im disappointed in pretty much everyone involved.Rossi for being a whiny ... .....,Dorna for showing blatant favortism, and Bridgestone for not sticking to their guns. This is a smack in the face to every rider that sufferd thru developing the Bridgestone only to be sold out by the powers that be.As a former Rossi fan,I hope he fails miserably next year.I actually hope that Michelin comes with a tire that blows everything out of the water.

thats not forget pedrosa also asked for stones but bridgstone told honda no.

what the hell is wrong with you people. OK.. so you don't like Rossi. But why can't he change rubber for next year? Why do you guys want him to only use Michelins?

If it was someone else that was gonna switch rubber then i think there wouldnt be any arguement. Its f&^%&^ tires. Get over it. If he was switching to dunlops i bet you guys would be happy.

This sport is about competition. if something is not working for you then either you fix it or move on. Stoner could not run on Michelins. He made the switch and noone complained. man you guys must hate competition.

To start with,i used to be a Rossi fan,no more.
2nd,he's not simply switching tires,he turned the sport upside down with threats to get his way and Dorna played along.BLATANT FAVORITISM.
3rd,Moto Gp is about competition, tires included.Whiny ..... obviously doesnt like competition. He didnt even bother to try to fix it
And last but not least,Stoner didnt just switch rubber,he switched teams that happened to run Bridgestones and neither was supposed to do .... this year.I hope and pray the Yamaha flat out sucks so i can here the little ..... make more excuses.

please

Mich has had 2 years to sort out tire issues...2 years in a row they've been ........along with the M1...how many handicaps do you homos want Rossi to have.....a guy, even as good as Rossi can only do so much....... the tires...i want good racing....bring on a single tire rule!

Rossi is making a grave mistake.
<

He is gambling that Michelin will Not get their act together for next year.
He is gambling that Bridgestone will give him tyres that suit his bike perfectly, not to mention equal to Stoner. (That is the biggest gamble)
He is gambling that Honda will not have their Bikes together.(Also a very big gamble)

Read it here First.... Rossi will not win the championship next year. If he is not careful he may leave a tarnished hero.
