Turn Off the Commentators and Focus on the Racing

LOL picking on the Kiwi accent- shame on you :)

In Australia for years we had the Brit accent of Barry Sheen. At first he was woefully bad but once he got the hang of it he was amazing.

Don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before. I was having lunch at an outdoor restaurant in Brisbane Australia and Barry Sheen turned up and had lunch at the next table. I was so tempted to ask him if he had caught up with Graeme Crosby LOL
I live in inner Sydney and would be in strife if I had a problem with Kiwi accents. It is more the lisp or whatever it is.

I loved Barry Sheene in any guise. I think his wife has stayed out here.

I also live in Inner Sydney - Tempe

Barry, the ciggies got him. Didn’t know his wife was still here

Not nice to speak ill of the dead but don't miss big Dazza in commentary at all. Poor old Barry did get him to tone down the hysterical yelling a bit, but there was only so much you could do.

I quite enjoy Neil Hodgsons commentary and his insights on TNT. I remember when he first started and he has improved enormously since then although his insistence on always calling a bike a “motorcycle” does still sound odd to me.

I really liked Julian Ryder and his compatriot back in the day. It was almost worth watching WSBK just for the commentary.

Yes still miss Jules knowledge and wit. Nothing wrong with a bit of WSBK i see your near neighbour is starting to come good this year. 👍

First time in quite a while I’m watching a Moto2 race. Man, listening to Michael Laverty is torture.

Update: For the love Christ, can someone please tell him it’s Mot”O”2 and NOOOOOT Moto”R”2!!!!

To paraphrase a famous statement by an Australian sporting satirist in regard to the commentators on a native Australian sport, how is Nick Harris still alive ?. Doesn’t anyone know where he lives ?.

People always seem to hate racing commentators, but what are these people really expecting? They give you a play by play of what is happening on the screen, with a little insight and color. Personally I think the TNT coverage has been better then in years past, although they do not seem to have as much pit lane reporting as they used to.

In the USA I can not argue with the price, having all the sessions on MAX is considerably cheaper.

I also watch on the Ambient channel. The whole thing is more engaging and enjoyable without some ..... screaming the whole time.

Matt Birt has got to be the worst commentator on Moto GP, I never usually write in to any forms, but I made the effort this time.
I always liked commentary that was even keeled, you know spread out praise to all the different riders.
Matt Birt overtly biased towards Pecco and Ducati, sure there having a great season undoubtedly but it's crazy like he has some kind on man crush on him, to top it off he is probably in the running for president of the Ducati fan club, it's pretty sick.
It's time for some new blood.
Cheers 😊

Most people pay more than that for cable tv etc. I pay $150 a year but I grandfathered in for having it so long. Even at 30 euro/month, for me it's worth it for everything you get.
Grandfathered? My first year cost me $49 or was it $59. Then next year they raised it, I felt cheated and they lost a paying customer, me. I have some 900+ races stored in my media server for winter viewing. It is just my way of living, I do not want to do anything with cloud storage or whatever relies on internet connection.

Speaking about commentators in Italy we had a short happy period with Max Biaggi as technical sidekick during wsbk races.

It was like listening to some kind of sorcerer... He could predict Who was running out of tires, Who was pushing or keeping something in his pocket etc... in such a precise way that It made him terribly fascinating to listen to.

In MotoGP we Always had Rossi fanboys, now switched to Ducati enthusiasts, not much from a technical point of view but a speck Better than in the past
