Hi there well here its from rossi himself. seemslike a couple of years ago someone said rossi would go to F-1 or rally. and seems not to long ago somewhere I read that he would retire. in bote cases I think I said NO WAY. and that he would stay in motot gp till he broke all the records.

check this out.

I agree he is going to stay in MotoGP until he is classed as the Greatest To Date in all categories he can....

i agree id say 4 -5 years he kinda sliped that up when answering the question about agostini
<

i also think he would like to round his number off to 10 something ive been saying for 2 years
<

i still think he has made a mistake switching to stones tho but i hope he proves me wrong, michelin have comeback very strong and i think he will have a tough time beating lorenzo and pedrosa.

I don't think he'll beat Angel's record let alone Ago's. Rossi's gonna get about 4-5 wins tops in the coming season I think, he's not the best on the grid any more so he'll have to cheat to get any more wins I think.

What you think & the truth are obviously light years apart

I'm a realist and i'm only being realistic, Rossi's now on the best package in the championship. If he doesn't win the championship this season then he definatly isn't the best in the championship. He wasn't last year or 2006 either.

Even the most passionate Rossi fans must admit that the 3 premier class world titles he needs to equal Ago are going to be unlikely at best.

you both are ....... ........
<

And it's no longer the "PREMIER" class.....it's a beefed up 250 midget parade now.

yep im with Tom on that one unfortunately, even if he hadnt fallen off at Valencia in 2006 (or all those other ways he could have got 5 more points) i doubt Casey/Ducati/Bridgestone could have been beaten in 2007

It was a prediction, it cannot be wrong until the reality unfolds. You might find it a little unreasonable though, but thats a matter or speculation rather than truth.

That may be the only record he does not get, but he can try and 2008 is where it all has to start...

Well trust me to throw some controversy in and certainly it may be a bit of 'lost in translation', but I certainly hope that the achievement of the records is not why he is staying in MotoGP.

I personally feel that if any athlete is only in a sport to achieve records, then they have lost the focus of why they participate in the first place and possibly, also lost much of the fun and drive.

If VR's only aim is records (and I doubt it to a large degree), then it shows a side to his character. Yes certainly all riders at this level are selfish but surely their aim should not be about records but about other aims and let the records flow from that.

EDIT: And no, this is not an attack as I fully suspect that something has been lost in translation along the way or at least much of the interview is missing.

Yeah im assuming somethings been missed because even back in 2005 i remember a BBC interview before the Jerez race with him and Suzi Perry asked him what his motivation was as hed pretty much done everything and proved his doubters wrong.Vale's reaction was like i dont know. There was no mention of records been his reason for staying. The only reason Valentino continues to race is down to two factors. He loves setting himself challenges.Ie switching to the M1 at that time the 3rd best bike on the grid(The Ducati and Honda were much better in 2003) and now switching to the Bridgestones i guess to an extent getting the most number of wins and other records might be part of his motivation. But mainly he plainly loves the racing as opposed to the Hobbit who always looks like hed rather be elsewhere

Yea Dani obviously hates his job and just wishes he had another career option to pay the bills

You are of course entitled to an opinion, but you ARE contradicting yourself. You say he'll get 4-5 wins but that he won't beat Angel's record....
<

I hardly think beating records per se is Vale's biggest motivation. He's always saying he likes to get out there, race the best he can and win. The records would be just a side effect of that, but they do probably give the satisfaction of knowing there's been a consistently top performance over an entire career.

I think above possibly anyone ever rossi throughout his career has tried to win almost every race, I believe for its own sake.

i agree, i also dont think rossi is in it just for records. he is in it for the love of racing and maybe the brolly dollys and high pay cheques as well
