Rossi: "I paid too much for last year"

Dani - I can trot out every champion in every class since 1949 in my sleep so I'm fully aware that 2004 was Rossi's first title for Yamaha but I think you'll find that HRC claimed the constructors world championship due to the lack of comparable results to Rossi from Yam and the amount of RCVs on the grid - exactly my thinking in 2000. Can't be arsed to BJ.C it but if you are suggesting that Suzuki also won the CWC in KRjnr's championship year then given his dominance that would make sense. I dunno, your post is ambiguous. Suzuki did win with Junior in 2000, we know that - or are you saying that they also won the manufacturers championship? I thought not, again given the ubiquity of Honda. Then again Kenny won lot of races that year so I wouldn't be surprised to hear it.

The point #22 is making is that constructors world championship is fairly toothless on the marketing front.

Or one cult of personality in particular.
Irony can he fairly ironic, as my brother the English and History teacher correctly says. We now have a rather earnest if not particularly malicious young adherent to that cult of personality questioning on another thread the psychology of those who refrain from drinking the Kool-Aid in regard to that particular cult rather than those who freely imbibe as he does.

Apologies, I mistook 22's post as which bike was the champ of that year on :mask: edit Suzuki did win cwc in 2000

Thanks for that...although I'm surprised to hear it. Their success however did result in inertia at the factory in terms of development and perhaps KR flattered to deceive that RGV. I always rated him as a rider - I'm not sure the bike was a good as people supposed or he got the credit that he was due for 2000. Certainly it wasn't as all conquering as Suzuki envisaged and by sitting on their (and KRJnrs) laurels, were obliterated by HRC in 2001. Not only did they fail to recover but for years during the new MotoGP formula their four stroke machine fell further behind. Expecting the Dunlops to accommodate the motorcycle was a huge mistake and even by the time the RGV was Michelin and then Bridgestone shod I'm certain they were still failing to design the bike around the tyres by which time the gulf was unassailable. I don't suppose the departure of Taylor and the arrival of Denning helped much either.

So good to see them competitive again.

Ha, not totally infallible then?

Only when I'm educating you on the complexities of the European Union.

Incidentally, where's the avi of that beautiful hound gone? Wonderful breed of dog even though I admittedly initially mistook it for a German Shepherd.

May well be my turn to misread but the 2000 Constructor's championship was:

Yamaha - 318
Honda - 311
Suzuki - 264

Cannot lie, thank you Mr Google as I had to look because I simply did not believe it myself.

Suzuki may have won the teams competition if it were around at the time

The late, great Warren Willing was instrumental in KRjr's Championship. Lots spoken about Burgess, but Willing won in an underfunded, undersupported team

Completely. He passed away last year. I never knew that he was terminally ill.

Was very fortunate enough to meet Warren a few times at his brothers motorbike shop (when it was in business) which was my then local shop.

Never got into chats or stuff but he was always friendly and a bit more outgoing than was Len.

And yes, very under-rated in so many ways as to his contribution

I have replaced it with a shot of 3 and a half year old Dani

Mate, I spent 16 or so years commuting from Gosford/Wyong to Sydney for work and eventually got sick of it so and scored a job down the coast so moved before heading out here 4 or so years back.

Was back there 2 weeks back and man, thing sure change quick lol

Do you remember the old Jilliby mx track?

I do vaguely remember that there was a track out that way but as a kid, I had no chance to ride bikes aside from my cousins at my grandparents.

Mindy ou, when I was growing up kids used to ride damn near wherever they pleased and most people just let it happen, now it is all NIMBY
