Pre-Season TESTING 2013-2014

I don't get why you're mad about this one. It's Ducati being smart and they'll learn a ton I'm sure. The whole thing is transparent and we've known about this for months. And any team that wants to run a spec ECU can do it. Factory Yamaha could and it would be well within the rules.

It's exactly what HRC are doing with their bike too. Jumkie can you explain what is wrong with entering a bike within a set of rules that the teams have known about for the best part of a year?

Well within the rules...yes of course. Buddy, there is a message in my post. That being, rules are arbitrary. The implications, not so obvious, but there nonetheless. The results are not as legitimate as most think. This for example is no different than 20L fuel or engine limit favoring HRC. Sure, u can build a better mouse trap...when the rules are yours. Look at it this way, why didnt we have a rule in 07 and on that all entries must drop a twin-spar chassis and adopt a engine-stress member type chassis? Im just reminding us about the nature of the regulations and how they impact the competition. :)

Ok, so there is two classess within the championship. Grid fillers or whatever you want to call them, they don't make the results illegitimate. Put it this way, without the new rules, Redding probably wouldn't get a ride, Hayden would be at a dead end at Ducati and Rossi would be able to keep cruising to 4th and you would lose a bet.

The new bikes might not be champioship contenders, but they might at least shake up the complacent middle order.

You are asking the wrong question. Not surprisingly.

Not a bad perspective there, Sloth. Not saying I enjoy the rules as they stand, but that's a good glass half full view.

Can't say I have particularly liked the rules for some time now. But 2014 is looking to be a good balance between allowing the factories to do their thing, while also helping to field some additional bikes that at least give guys like Redding a chance to learn and prove themselves until Satellite/Factory rides become available, which CRT was clearly failing to do. The Satellite guys will need to push to beat the new bikes, rather than just default in behind the top 4 like they did this year.

You're dismissing a question that doesn't fit your spiel. Not surprisingly.
Im dismissing your question because its not worth discussing the issue with U, given your premise.

Oh for sure, the Parmac bikes won't be on equal footing with each other next year, it'll be interesting to see which one does better and of course we'll have to ask, bike or rider. We won't know. I guess I should have led off my post with "are you surprised?" instead, it would have made more sense.
