Thoughts.
Stoner - was superb and provided a masterclass to his opponents. Rode sensationally early to create the 6 second gap which he maintained through good management up until the wet interruption of late in the race. Rode smart when it rained as the pioneer on track as to how bad the conditions were and showed again that when he gets it right, he is a freak.
Simoncelli - a thoroughly deserved second and congratulations for a well ridden, well managed and smart race. Like Stoner and all others who stayed upright he rode smart and superbly when the rains came and really he put another notch on Honda's belt as to correct decision or not .............. IMO vindicated.
Dovisioso - rode well although for some reason to my eyes he never really looked like he would beat Simoncelli. Not sure why but from my comfortable lounge he just did not seem to have the 'it'.
Pedrosa - for mine, disappointing but he had nothing to win or lose so it is a pass mark
Edwards - did what Edwards does best. He kept out of harms way, stayed upright, rode sensibly and gathered good points.
Hayden/Capirossi - a good risky gamble and worth it in the circumstances but for both was probably around 4 laps to late for it to have hadt he effect, but worth it. And whilst on Hayden, a great start and then seemed to fall back to (as Jumkie calls it) the 'Ducati' position.
Rossi learnt that the front end needs more work despite a good (relatively) showing up until that point.
Special mention to Bautista who was riding well and whilst he was eventually undone by the wet he can hold the head high knowing that the bike may well be his limiting factor, but I do hope that he settles down a little.
All up, not bad and a worthy World Champion is crowned. Shame the atmosphere is a little flat due to the injuries as no doubt that nobody wanted this to occur.
