I'm not just being a pedant either ...... here in Aust. we deny the existence of those lower capacity supporting races they have with motogp ... 125!!, 250cc, pfft

thats a real shame, because in 125 and 250 you will see some of the hardest closest racing out there, fairing bashing is the norm and dani took 3 world titles there

just because the austrailians deny they exist does not mean they dont. you call them a "support" class, well in europe there not seen as such and are hugely popular for good reason.

Congratulations Dani for being lucky. You certainly don't deserve that 2nd place trophy. You never earned it. You only won two races.
You are the worst 2nd place finisher of all time. I will never acknowledge
that you are the 2007 runner up. History will put an asterisk next to your name and this season. You only got second place because those that finished behind you scored fewer points than you. Those races when they crashed, broke or finished badly were merely them giving you points. You wern't good enough to beat them. You had to rely on their poor judgement and bad luck in order to score more points. That's not how a true motogp runner up should race.
You are a lucky fraud who will never be a runner up again!

Because 125's and 250's has been better then MotoGP this year in my opinion. I love it.

Of course he deserves it you .....!

He was on one of the worst bikes in the first half of the season and he rode the wheels off it, he's been better than Rossi this season and he is my pick for the title next season.

It is not so easy to determine overall merit, so there is a score system.
According to this score system Pedrosa won the 2nd place so there is no doubt about the fact he deserved it, according to the scoring system used!

Certainly when there is just 1 point difference, one can doubt the scoring systems itself as it becomes a little too much an arithmetic difference. If they had finished with the same points, Rossi would have won because he won 4 races and Pedrosa only 2. But a single point difference is sufficient to cancel a difference of 2 GP wins...
<

Perfection does not exist as far as regulations are concerned, but maybe it would be more fair to say that in case the point difference is less than 5 (which is the point difference between 1st and 2nd), then the number of victories should prevail. Hmmm...

The point system is already geared to reward wins, to do so again would be silly. We all know that championships are about consistency anyway, so why shouldn't someone with less wins finish ahead?

I would not call a system where a 1 point difference matters more than a 2 wins difference, a system geared to reward wins...

i posted this thread back in april to debate this very thing. iwould be interest to hear your ideas on a fair point system.

IMO, keep it the same as now but with an extra point for pole and one for fastest race lap.

after all, you cant say that the no of wins is not rewarded enough now can you?
i'm sure stoner would agree that if you win lots of races, you win the WC.
simple as...

Since when was the Honda one of the worst bikes, i'd give my right nut for a Honda factory racing seat.

The Yamaha is worse for sure and Rossi got more wins on that than Dani on his beloved Honda.

The Honda was TERRIBLE in the first part of the year, not so anymore.
