I never thought it would actually get to this. I'm sure some of the riders are damn pissed off with the accusations. At this point if there is no race on Sunday, I could give two craps. This is BS.

Also, could Haga be off the pace because he didnt test here earlier in the year? (like Spies/Fab/Rea did)
Everybody is off pace. Rhea did a 148.6 at the test a couple of months ago.Whatever was on the track has the riders spooked.

It's only troubling because the riders are stupid and lack common sense (maybe that's what it takes to be a rider). You don't insult the host b/c the host didn't invite the riders so they could evaluate the racetrack.

If the riders would stop saying stupid things everytime a mic was put in their face, the governing body wouldn't be required issue a press release that insults the participants and praises the venue.

maybe removing Imola of the calender next year or any round followed after WTCC would make'em happy.

When you ask a man to go risk his life for your entertainment,he has every right to be heard on the condidtions, and has every right not to ride. .... the promoter and .... the race track owner if their feelings got hurt or they are embarrassed. Lets say the riders acted like good little robots and went out any way so the promoter wouldnt look bad and Ben Spies ends up in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Bike riders are a simple get off from never walking again, i stand behind them 1000000%

They can vent all they want about the conditions to the stewards, they shouldn't blab to the press that the venue is screwed up. The riders know enough not to insult their team to the press, they shouldn't insult the venue either.

That's rich! Since the whole day today was in front of international press for the WSBK riders and paddock what would you have had the riders do? Would, "we all had to return to the pits to console skyes after his spill - but the track's, uhm, great" have worked?. How 'bout, "well we all had the really big lattes at the rider's meeting and, uhm, we all had to relieve ourselves at the same time, but, uhm, the track was, uhm, great".

Just as long as you have learned to use the word "demand" in proper context.

That's a blogger taking very wide latitude in interpreting a press release.

quote from blogger with emphasis added:

"In the wake of actions by superbike riders protesting an allegedly slippery Imola track surface that some have been likening to a strike or a revolt, the SBK website has issued a press release that essentially blames the riders for the snafu."

huh?

WHO has "been likening" things to a strike or revolt?

WHERE is the "blaming" happening?

quote from sbksite:

"Track action on the opening day of practice for the twelfth round of the Hannspree FIM Superbike World Championship at Imola was delayed for four hours due to the request by a number of riders to clean the surface, which they considered to be slippery."

"After consulting the riders Claude Danis, the FIM safety officer, together with the circuit organizers and the Race Direction, decided to clean and dry the track, despite several riders and team managers maintaining that it was only necessary for the riders to stay out on the track to continue to lay down rubber."

Riders said it was slippery. Some wanted it cleaned, others didn't. They put their heads together and made a decision to clean it. If they had gone the other way, would the blogger be making the contrary claim, "RACE ORGANIZERS REFUSE TO CLEAN TRACK!!! DON'T CARE ABOUT RIDER SAFETY!!!!"?

All due respect to Kropotkin, but this is a total non-issue.

No, a simple STFU usually gets the point across

Parc - where, exactly, is the line between "blogger" and "journalist" or "writer". You make it sound so derogatory.

Since Walt joins Emmett as Kropotkin's wingman I'll give him some latitude for now based on my respect for Kropotkin and his judgement so far.

Walt's obvious over-editorialising will need to be toned down in the future... Save it for the "opinions" posts, Walt!

They shouldn't say anything, or they can understate the situation.

I guess he doesn't think the racing in MOTOGP is going to be any harder. he better not loose his edge.
