Hey, hey - what makes you think M2 will be any less of a breeding ground than 250s?

Because Moto2 bikes are in essence glorified supersport machines?

"Congratulations for Michel for winning and for Marco with his first time in Superbike, third position today. For the race, I changed the bike completely from the first race and in this bike we had a few problems. During the race the bike started moving a lot, after Michel passed me I tried to catch him up but he was quite fast today and I couldn't find where I could pass him...and then I was dead! I think I need more salt, 1 kilo of salt!"
From Haga

Haha, what a guy ^^

Shinya could very well be gone next year, but I don't necessarily see this week as a sign of that.

Unless you think Simoncelli's going to turn his back on MotoGP, this is just an injured rider being replaced by an Italian riding for an Italian factory in Italy. Of course, it's been an awful long time since his injury, and who knows what his real fitness is - at the end of the day the public facts can be made to fit most any story you want them to. They're not really a smoking gun.

I meant it as general speculation as well, Nakano isn't going to be back with Aprilia either way. The way Biaggi has gotten results on that bike and Nakano hasn't, he is clearly going to get replaced by whoever.

Nakano has had some bad luck, but most races where he was in shape he wasn't that far from Biaggi.

Here's the pass/dive-bomb.

Anyone care to offer a translation of Max's interview?

well done Nori. the man does work well under pressure. the battle is back on track!

as for Rea, ...... had it coming. thats what he gets for trying to go from 4th to 1st in only the second lap of the race. .........

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (heyhuub @ Sep 27 2009, 06:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Really gives you a peek at the skill level that goes on in the 250's, i really doubt Moto2 can bring forth the sort of guys like Simoncelli, even though i don't really like him.

I'm a happy man this weekend ^^ seeing as Nurburgring was a bit of a disaster for Haga this made up for it quite good. even though Fab won race 2.

My heart was really in my throat when Rea torpedoed himself towards Haga in race 1, race 2 certrainly wasn't an improvement. I really thought he was gonna be right up there with the Ducs and Aprilia's. Great ride by Biaggi aswell, but he must be kicking himself for letting himself be beaten by Simoncelli. Apart from that a good ride by Byrne and Kiyo aswell.

Supersport was excellent aswell, excpected a snore fest really with Crutchlow leading the way, turned out to be quite diffrent though.

My First thought is Biaggi was beaten by Simoncelli..
Biaggi should be embarrased. Simoncelli just dropped in to WSBK for the weekend and kicked .... So.... Is Spies ready for the 250 guys who will be well of the front runner pace in Motogp next year? Is He ready for Lorenzo, Stoner, Rossi, Dovi?

I am starting to think about the talent level coming out of the 250's and the level out of WSBK. I don't think 250's and Motogp has the speed gaps (.5 - .7 secs off or more a lap)that are cover WSBK. I hope Spies can up his game.

Very Cool race one!! Love to see Haga win. And I know I'm going to get some .... from the Brits, but ......., Rea looked very frigging ambitious, nearly torpedoed Haga this time too. He seemed to be all over the track. With his motorcross display today in Imola, I feel a little more comfortable feeling that his pass on Haga last race was "a little sloppy". Even if my British mates will beg to differ and educate me about how Haga "invited him in for tea".

Sooo, again what is your point. Racecraft is racecraft regardless of the equipment... the most important factor in learning a competitive sport is the level of competence/skill of your immediate competitors, not whether you are on a 250 smoker, a 600SS, a small displacement twin or (like Rattapark Wilairot) a modified scooter.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Geonerd @ Sep 28 2009, 04:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Here's the pass/dive-bomb.
Well, not the cleanest slice, eh... Looks to me like Biaggi knew he was a little slower and tried to block the line but left Marco a bit of daylight and he took it... unfortunately innocent Ben payed the biggest price.

I'm glad they got the surface issues worked out; what a track! Motorcycle racing needs more circuits like this, with transitions, elevation changes, and quick direction changes. The newer circuits, with their slow corners and width, tend to make bikes look slow, IMO. No, I am not a fan of Portimao. We need more Brands Hatches and Imolas!

I liked what I saw in the soup piece on Spies' and Mladin's relationship. I have more respect for Ben now that I know he doesn't feel the need to race with antagonism.

Maybe, we'll see then. Not confinced though.

If you`re referring to the 1st race then you`ll probably find that Fabrizio started that ball rolling.

man THANK GOD fab didn't do anything stupid. he was so close of taking haga down at one point. i think it was towards the end when it was max haga fab, and fab was about to touch hagas rear. i was watching it one euro sport. the commentator is so damn funny. he said something like fab has taken out most of the riders in his career, by now thats a given

. I'm still having trouble in seeing race 2, due to availability. i know the results, but hope that one will be good to watch.

Jesus Christ, did someone forget there was a chicane. Did you see the speed the downed bike came thru .
