He has a great bike, hes happy with the bike .... now whats going to be his excuse when he dont win? .............

I think the qual tyre is masking Nick's race pace unfortunatley.........we shall see tho, just about to watch warm-up (nice of Eurosport to show it today!)

sticking in 1 fast lap on qualifiers and putting in 30 under race conditions are 2 totally different things. nicky rarely makes excuses and i would not say he has a "great bike "quite yet.
congrats to nicky on getting pole, good for his confidence.

stoner cant have it all his own way,,get over it

Nice to see Nicky on pole

i have to agree that imo michelin quals do indeed mask their race pace distance ability to stay intact.

we will see soon enough

Fecking great to see Nicky get pole! Here's hoping Honda continue giving Nicky something he can work with. Podium isn't out of the question but I feel the pace for the win might be too much for him with what he's got. Hear him in the post QP interview, he said it was the stickiest rear tyre he ever had? If only michelin could have guys saying that about their race tyres too.

He beat Rossi last year when there was no obvious issue with the tyres so he s just lapping up all the attention from being world champion

It's a repsol honda, how bad can it be? Dani is on the same bike and has been making him look silly all season.

In the end he made no excuses, and he actually admitted fault...
'I was riding right on the edge and used up a lot of my tyres to try to catch the leaders...'

Nicky rides better with less traction control, but the down side is that he has to manage how he uses his tyre more...the result is that he cooked it too early and paid the price.

Where as Pedrosa used the traction control (and smaller weight) to keep his tyres to fight until the end.

'Every engineering decision is a compromise!'

nicky riding style sucks, its slow and wasts tires.

Some folks on this board, that don't like opinions differing from their own, would call that statement troll talk....I am not one of those folks.

I really think Nicky will podium at best for the rest of his gp career but won't win , his riding style is effective for some of the race but he can't manage tyres & that's where he loses vital grip in the last 3rd of the race.

You can never count him out at Laguna and whilst he's on a factory honda you'd be crazy not to give him a chance at other circuits!

That kinda says he's not a very smart rider, and I find that hard to believe. I think he's just not cut out for the 800 riding style with the tyres rules as they stand.

Laguna is one track, and a 2006 season is not likely to repeat itself while Nicky rides for Repsol.

Do you think he will get his contract renewed with Repsol for 2009?

He was 'smarter' on the 990's although not as good as others which reflects in his 2 wins in 06, the 800's are just too different for him & he doesn't seem able to adjust.

I can agree with that.

well it can't be that slow, after all he did get pole !

Pinky is a troll, he made this thread and hes a Stoner fan... just trying to ruffle some feathers.

As for Nickys riding style from a neutral point of view i love it. If these bikes where sliding about like they where only just a couple years ago he would be great this year.
