But nationality is ......... The nation state is a concept which is 150 years out of date.

Intriguing.  Tell me more please.

You would have been better off in Belgium then. Less STD's, better beer, and as long as you do every article in both Dutch and French, you'd probably qualify for federal funding.

Does that mean he would qualify for the basement-<strike>prison</strike>-building subsidy? Or do you have to supply your own (borrowed?) children for that?

Now I'm confused (big surprise); I thought he was English. And I thought you were in Germany.

Can't keep track of you Euro guys. So Krops is what Dutch? A Belgian?

Hehe, bloody ignorant Americans. I kid, I kid. No, I get to confustion. As Krop already mentioned, he's a British expat living in The Netherlands (not Neverland). I'm Dutch, part Austrian roots, using a German nickname. I was born in The Netherlands and I live there currently (have done for many, many years now). By American or Austrialian standards, I guess Krop and I are more or less neighbours.

You know, there used to be this guy that was all about 'one people, one empire, one leader' a few decades back. Hardly an anarchist, although he did unleash a lot of it onto the world.

Honda: Chatter is much reduced, which was a huge disadvantage. The bike is now rideable.

Yamaha: acceleration off the corner is better, which was their weak point.

Ducati: slowly, they are improving the weight distribution and understeer, but they have such a long way to go. By September, they should have a nearly completely new bike, which should be much better.

Interesting you say the bike is now rideable yet the vote was that the Honda was the best bike in 2012.

:p :p :p Basement apartments are mandatory for ex-pats and extraneous children are easily obtained; just leave a trail of Belgian chocolates leading to your basement.

Cool. I like the Dutch. Amsterdam is one of the few cities other than NYC that I feel I could live in. Lots of tall women who're not afraid to look you in the eye and great coffee (with the little chocolate on the plate). Killer herring sandwiches. If you could just get rid of the ....... guys with the portable calliopes - I'd move right in.

Hang around with Pov long enough and before long you'll be intimately familiar with tea-bagger view of life.

Because they'd fixed it by the end of last year, more or less, and refined it even further now. It wasn't the best bike at Qatar 2012, it was by, say, Misano or Aragon.

Look at all the things in your house. Look at where they come from. Look at the companies that produced them. Look at how they regard the nation state.

The nation state is simultaneously too big and too small to be relevant. Important decisions are largely taken at either a regional level, or a supra-national level. And pov should be delighted, after all, I thought the constitutional literalists were all about states' rights?

Then there was this. Trade has existed since cavemen said "uuurgh"

What decisions do you speak of? Bigger than a nation state  or regional, with what must be a fairly sparse bit of redundant and  pointless legislature somewhere in the middle.

Okay, I'm a "both Communism and Capitalism are both failed social experiments"  kind of guy, give us a blast of this profundity. Just a few examples, this is such an interesting topic it nearly deserves its own thread.

Urban planning and macroeconomic planning, for example. But I don't have time for this, have to start packing soon, season's about to start. Remind me again in December....

More importantly, peoples rights that are spelled out precisely for the left to ignore.

A clever Liberal Ruse!

Any one who actually believes that either party is looking out for their civil liberties and constitutional rights is a goddamned fool.  The GOP makes loud noises about guns, while the DNC panders to the pro-abortion crowd.  Apart from that, both parties seem perfectly willing to cooperate to achieve the goals dictated by their sponsors.

I do agree with Pov in his disbelief that yet another level of bureaucracy is going to make things any better.

Yet another level? I say there's room for scrapping the most ineffective and irrelevant level.

I know it's not mind blowing but... Anyone who actually believes there is more than one major party in the US is a fool. Or in North America at all for that matter. They operate the same way, their policies differ little if at all and the end game is the same. Our personal freedoms erode steadily.
