I think the playing field has changed when the displacement was reduced to 800cc. With the 990cc, the bikes were almost too fast for most tracks. So being a bit down in power did not matter. With the 800s, that still holds true, but for a fewer number of tracks. Estoril was one of them. On the larger tracks, more power will be more advantageous -- as seen with Ducati's performance last year.
