Nicky To try Radical change

QUOTE
I’m struggling a lot to get the bike to turn, so it’s going to put me more on the front of the bike. With that, it’s got a different wheelbase, different geometry to get the weight more on the front, so that changes a lot of things to get that.

A wise man once talked about Nicky and how he used to "tank hump" during testing because he was having trouble getting feel and grip in the front end.

The same wise old sage also pointed to Nicky's conflicting remarks about front end feel and surmised that Ducati had moved Nicky farther back on the bike so he could use more Stoner-esque settings. The result was a vague front end and miserable race times that were worse than his testing runs.

This one's for the haters

Thanks for the link Califas Kid. I'm cautiously optimistic that Nicky might score a top 5 this weekend; however, I don't know how he plans on getting heat in the rear tires.

i really wish nicky to have a good result this weekend, i know he´s trying to take things positively, but sooner or later this kind of results will hit his moral
if he manage to break into the top 10 ...then we might have our nicky back in business.
let´s hope for that to happen

This is what makes me admire Hayden so much, He is always looking for a solution to his problem. He doesnt just lay down and quit like melandri did last year. Regardless of the out come my hats off to him. im not going to get my hopes up but hopefully can crack the top 10.
LEX im glad to see your down with the slang carnal!!!!!!!!

It does make sense, in the flattrack world your bike position is much closer to the front and I'm sure that the farther back you push him the less comfortable he will be. I agree though that no one works harder, he woun't give up like some of the others. Oh yeah, I read that pedrocchio is riding with pain killers??? maybe he should smoke a blunt before as well

Desperate times require desperate measures....

Good luck to him maybe it will work maybe it won't....but eitherway he is contracted to try...

let´s hope he doesn´t crash too much otherwise we´ll have a takacrashi shadow

edit: sorry wrong topic

i was thinkin that since nicky has tried many setups based on stoner´s then trying a completely diferent setup might not work too good but it might be a good PLACEBO

Yep....the issue is all in his head and not the bike......

Heat anywhere won't be a problem today. Anyone hear about Suzuki's motor? I just got on and haven't heard officially if they will wait or not.

Looks like the desperation approach to reset the whole bike worked for Nicky today...he came 6th....congrats to him....

hell yeah!!! man did you guys saw the smile on his face when he came back to pits? oh man i felt so fuc&!ng good to see him get the result, i hope he keeps it up!

Half a second off Stoner in his first go with the new settings? He's found something, ladies and gentlemen. I know Stoner fell off in the last quarter of an hour so he likely would have upped the pace by a few tenths but we haven't seen a second Ducati be this close to Stoner since Capirossi. This new setting should allow him to find a top five pace for Sunday, and Monday's test should give him a considerable amount of data (all things considered with limited track time available this season). He could be back to consistent top fives in short order. Or perhaps the runway of a straight is hiding the other problems for Ducati, although that wasn't the case in Mugello or Qatar.

hmmmm... this would be nice but i think it's a strech. just getting in the top 10 regularly would be a nice change. time will tell... fingers crossed!

I know it sounds crazy but when you go from consistently 2.0 to 2.5 second behind your teammate to 0.5 after one session, you've found something. He's a guy who finds speed by plugging away lap after lap and to make such a big jump in one session is astounding. I honestly think after Monday's test he's going to be even closer to the boys in front.

Good work to Nick, I wasn't expecting him to be so close to Stoner, but 6th is reminiscent of his achievements in testing. This week they are using the hardest tires Bridgestone offers so I wonder if this set up will continue to bring Nick results in the future.

I also hope this result doesn't strain the good relationship with Stoner. Stoner is rumored to be nearing an extension with Ducati. If Hayden is able to string together a few results, it may alter negotiations with Ducati.

It seems an absurd suggestion, but Stoner has gotten mad over less and he is known to harbor a grudge.

Regardless of what the future holds, great work by the Marlboro squad so far this weekend.

This is significant opportunity for Hayseed. A solid top ten will be an accomplishment. If he can get into a race long battle with Dovi, who is currently only a few clicks up; that would be something.
