Nicky gets new Engine for Donny!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ROCKGOD01 @ Jun 21 2008, 03:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Speis is better than Mladin, he beat him fair and square in the past two years. Reed well if Bubba stays home then he comes out of his hole to ride then you still have to deal with Kevin Windam.
Mladin is about 55 now though , isn't he

?

More seriously, I doubt mladin was as good as spies when he was 23, and as an english commentator waxing lyrical on crashnet has said, spies does have a certain presence. He looked very impressive in an AMA superbike replay I saw last week too, where he nailed mladin right on the line.

I don't see what you find so funny. This is an objective fact; Nicky was running great until the problem(lap 9). Unless you are saying Nicky and Repsol Honda are lying about a mechanical problem?

"`We learned a lot this weekend. We could've done with another day in the dry to really understand things. I´m actually pretty positive, we´ll try to put everything we've learned to good use at Assen. We didn´t really know what to expect here, everything went smooth until this morning when we had to switch bikes. The first few laps of the race went okay and then about lap nine I had a dash light come on. I didn´t know what it was for, but if a sensor goes bad you realise just how much you use traction control, engine braking control and things like that. It was nothing serious but I lost some confidence for a couple of laps, so my lap times fell and it upset my rhythm while I got my confidence back. The guys are looking into it now. It would´ve been nice to finish higher up, because I´ve got a lot of English guys in the box. The bike was pretty consistent at the end and I got back into the 29s. We learned a lot about fuel, tyre life and so on, we got a lot of information. We knew the first race might not be easy, so I hope we can build from here. Thanks to the team and to HRC for all their hard work.´" - Credit, motogp.com

Um

Mladin is a far better rider ........ Mladin 5 titles

Spies ...... gifted two by Mladin ...

..... Reed is the champ ....... go on deny it

I'll give you that aussie's have won more gp titles than americans, but americans DOMINATE SX, reed is not even in Stewarts class.
now, back to MGP, it's rossi n a class by himself, then everyone else (inlcuding nicky)
BTW: hello to eveyone. 1st post on this forum, love the knowledge you guys have.

Since 1993, maybe? We've got the Aussies double covered in premier class GP, don't give 'em any credit they don't deserve.

If Spies pans out, Texas will have Oz covered in premier class GP

Welcome aboard.

I thought the tally was:

Italy - 18
England - 17
USA - 15
Australia - 7
Spain - 1

You are correct of course. I forgot to count kr jr, whom I didn't intend to demean.
EDIT
Might be 18 english world champions, but it is late here.

texas v australia is actually a fair competition, about 20 million current population each.

Just look at those names

Did you just crawl out of a cave? He's been wanting that thing for a while, now that he gets it at the half of the season, while the rest of the world has had it since last year, a small thank you doesn't mean it came timely (feel free to mix in a dictionary). Oh, I know its a waste, I'm just saying this for other reasonable readers, not you. What was he suppose to say, .... you for letting me try this after my season is already down the drain? How old are you, six? Obviously there is not point in comparing Nicky to Pedrosa, as you will not accept any evidence that Pedrosa may be, just may be, a better rider. So, could you please explain how Dovisioso, on a HRC satellite machine that is presumably less developed than Nicky's works bike, has finished better than Nicky in 5 of the 7 races this season? The point I am trying to make is that Nicky fans should may be stop blaming only HRC for Nicky's dismal results this year.

The numbers might be a little less lopsided if our Doohan didn't chuck his career on a 'zook. Spies will not make the same mistake!!!!!

I'm not actually convinced it's a fair comparison though. There are more kangaroos in Oz, which means your leathers are slightly cheaper. It think that is the Australian X-factor.

Hayden to Stick with Pneumatic engine

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>"They told me I can't go back: they told me this is my bike for the second half of the season," he was quoted as saying. "That's fine by me, I don't want to go back. I accept the risk of doing the development on track because it's worth it. This bike suits my style better, and that's what I needed."

I guess he doesn't really have a choice.

For all the haters out there(Migs)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>"I went to [Tadayuki] Okada and asked him in a direct way: 'is this bike able to race in a Grand Prix?' He told me it isn't, more time was needed.

"But it's not true: this bike already goes fairly well and it has sizable margin for development, we just need to carry on working on the electronic management and on weight distribution, which is not optimal yet."

#1. Yes, Nicky got the new bike. He wanted the new bike. But what result would have left you satisfied?

#2. Okada clearly stated that the engine/bike wasn't ready.

#3. Honda clearly stated the bike wasn't ready and were reluctant to let Nicky ride it.

#4. Does Nicky get a developement window for this bike that has clearly been classified as "not ready"? Or should he just have immediate results because he wanted the bike?

#5. Given the circimstances I think that he did an incredible job at Donington.

#6. His race result was fairly consistent with his past results though??

Fact is Nicky has been struggling. How much of that is down to him and how much is down to HRC we won't know until he rides something else. It's hard to ignore the results of Dovisioso, that's why there is no doubt in my mind he will be Pedrosa's teammate in 2009. But comparing Hayden's results with Pedrosa's through this season I feel would be unfair.

But I won't say Nicky has been riding great, he's been struggling, no doubt. I don't think the Honda suits him (any non-250 guys on Hondas this year? Didn't think so) and I don't think HRC have done much to help him. And frankly they don't have much of a reason to (other than loyalty, which Hayden has showed in spades to the brand). They have a championship contender that is the sponsor's dream in Pedrosa and one of the brightest young riders in the sport in Dovi.

Anyways, IMO time for a divorce and off to Ducati for NH in 2009 and let Dovi in on an HRC ride and see what he can really do.
