Mugello MotoGp Race Mugello 22

I predict the plumbing is still molto italiano and that pecco throws it away. His comments about preferred teammates have me worried about his mental toughness/ability to eat joghurt.
Duc 1 2 3?
Won't be surprised to see aleix in the top 5 again.
I'm starting to believe in aprilia again. Feels good

KTM becoming the new Aprilia. They still can't make the steel chassis work.

The silly season is brutal. Keeping above the fray seems a good way to keep some mental clarity, for both the team and the rider.

Seems there are more good riders than there used to be. Only a couple of new bikes joining the party at the pointy end. Some are bound for disappointment. Inevitable really.

Storyline for Mugello:

GPOne reporting that Aleix is gone. Claim to have footage showing Aleix refusing to sign the Aprilia contract.

https://www.gpone.com/en/2022/05/19...ilia-espargaro-has-already-been-replaced.html

Okay, this was a joke by Aprilia, but do they have an ulterior motive, other than clickbait :D

I can't see Aleix playing along with a joke if this situation (i.e. he wasn't getting a renewal) was correct. But then stranger things have happened.

To add fuel to the fire, Paulo Ciabatti says any current Ducati rider "Will think twice before considering offers from other teams"

https://www.motorsport.com/motogp/news/ducati-our-riders-will-think-twice-about-joining-motogp-rivals/10306762/

It makes sense really, the Ducati is the best bike out there. Sounds like they are still deciding between Martin and the Beast for the factory ride, though apparently Martin's manager was talking with Honda.

Problem is, there aren't many good seats out there.

Berier Fires Back At Paco Sanchez Regarding Gardener

Berier says that rider management has become a scourge, only second to ....., in the MotoGP paddock.

Trying to analyze. Seems like a malignant narcissist who is failing to run a MotoGP outfit (currently), hammering another malignant narcissist for not playing nice regarding rider contracts. Berier might still be sensitive about dismissing Leitner for Guidotti, if he was behind it. I'm sure he signed off at least. He's an easy target for Sanchez right now.

This could get interesting.

Makes sense if the high price for Yamaha's current performance level is not likely to come down or the performance to improve.

I wonder what Yamaha are up to or not. Probably in the same boat as other manufacturers with boards that wonder what good is racing if it does not increase sales...... with the resulting tightening of the purse strings for development.

Vicious circle, how are they going to keep Fabio? I can't see Fabio being motivated only by money. He wants a bike that he can win races on.

Yeah, Yam might have a problem. RNF definitely wasn't helping the perception of their bike, but Dorna allegedly pays $5m for the factories to provide satellite equipment. Unsure if they will try to find another outfit to run Yamahas or if they will run 2 bikes and try to right the ship.

The sport would probably benefit if Ducati gave up two satellite bikes, but I'm not sure who would be willing to trade Ducati for Yamaha. That's probably a bridge to far even for VR46.

Storylines for FP1&2:

1. Aprilia's FU Wing - Aprilia have attached some ridiculous mini wing to the tail section of the test riders bike. Basically a middle finger to the anti-aero contingency, and the fans who fret about overtaking.

2. Aleix's semi-mugging of Oliveira - Aleix decided to go bar-to-bar with Oliveira down the straight, which caused Oliveira to run through the grass, very briefly, at 300kph+ on the way into San Donato. Aleix then shut off two turns later and bailed on the lap. Weird behavior. The paddock was a bit shocked by the replays.

3. Riders going wide at San Donato - lots of riders running wide at San Donato trying to find their braking markers. Not to strange, but there were some pretty big misses. Jack missed by a country mile.

4. Top speeds - half of the field is 350kph or more

5. Bagnaia's shoulder cam - Pecco has the shoulder cam for FP1 and FP2. Nice shots!

6. Jorge's hand - Martin's right hand is apparently still bothering him quite a bit

Q1 was fun but scary. MM proved that very quickly in Q2. BT commentators are complete idiots. Seeing a tennis star's Dr. ain't gonna help if he keeps this crap up.
