Big Jorge

<span style="font-size:12px;Will miss this weekend and fly back to Spain for surgery, how would people as<span style="color:#000000;sess his chances of being at <span style="color:#000000;<span style="background-color:transparent;font-family:Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;Sachsenring?

Depends whether it is a straight break or comminuted like Dani's was in 2011.

One thing it shows is how remarkable Rossi was to run for 10 years without anything like this.

Lorenzo is going to struggle with Sachsenring and Laguna up next. + Rossi wont be beating the hondas anytime soon on recent form and taking points off them to help Jorge

But Cal might do.

They should give him an absolutely full factory bike if he hasn't got one and it suits his riding style. There would seem to be nothing to be lost by giving him a full factory engine at least, if I am right in assuming he can have whatever engines he chooses going forward as long as they haven't been unsealed.

.....

Marquez should take risks and go for glory. He really could take the title if he wants it bad enough.

He has shown Pedrosa maybe to much respect by following him around for 80% of the race while the frontrunner gets a way. Now that Lorenzo is more than likely out of contention, Marquez has a very good opportunity to steal a title

Cal infront of Marquez and Pedrosa? It will have to be the ride of his life.

Jorge's crash is pretty brutal, looks like the front aquaplanes and just spits him over the 'bars. No amount of traction control will save you there. And people say it is too easy these days. Ha.

Great idea but would they risk Jorge's engine allocation?

I think it is rider specific ie if Jorge is replaced on the official factory bike the engines used by the replacement rider count from his allocation; I don't think they are obliged by their contract with Dorna to replace him for the first 2 races he misses, so they won't. Hopefully if it is a clean break he won't miss more than two races and perhaps only the one; I think Colin Edwards raced with a broken collar bone fairly recently but not at Jorge's level.

My thought is that nothing would stop them giving a full spec Yamaha bike or engine to Tech 3 for Cal, although any engines involved would count towards Cal's allocation, and the engines he has been using may have been more durable thus far.

Well if JLo is out for longer than 2 or 3 races then he has to be replaced, i believe, as per rules....so Cal would be the only choice to step up to Factory team....but only if JLo is out for a while...

Cal however would not get JLO's bike or engines right away in the Tech 3 team....

Rossi now has to step up and keep Honda's behind him so JLo can keep in Race for title.....

It's going to be a wet weekend so Cal shouldn't need all the 'magic super fast speed' factory parts. Cal, if you are good enough, win at Assen.

See the post immediately prior to yours. My thought was that they could give a full factory bike or engine to Tech 3 for Cal, not put him in as a replacement on the official factory team. It might not even help him admittedly as the bike has been designed and developed to suit Jorge, and some have questioned whether it is actually better; I suspect the engine is, if not necessarily as durable. .

I saw you posted as I hit post button.  I agree it is not as simple as just the engine much more would be needed.....

Rossi and JLo just need to step up take 1 and 2 and make sure MM and Dani are as far back as possible.

If Marquez doesn't do something stupid and nakedly ambitious to celebrate his new chance for glory, he isn't a real Spaniard. His RC better bounce halfway across Holland or I'm going to refer to him as Herr Marquez, the sober Teuton.

Gutted for Jorge. More gutted for Dani. If Dani wins, he'll only be champion because Lorenzo crashed. If I were him, I'd crash and break my collar bone. It's inevitable for Dani anyway. Pass the tainted title along to Marquez, cover him in chum, and release the Boppers.

love it

You're on a roll lately lex , can I have some of what you're smoking? :)

Jorge is absolutely ....... You can't ride sachsenring if you can't go left . Can't afford to lose 50 points in this championship.

Don't kid yourselves , there will be Japanese test rider to replace him.

That's a bugger. Was hoping to see a to-the-wire three-way fight all the way to the end of the season. Oh well, a Hondafest it is...

They didn't replace Rossi for the first 2 races after his broken leg in 2010; Honda replaced Stoner for the second race after his broken ankle last year after only running Dani for the first, but also didn't have Yamaha's engine durability problems. The problem is that I can't think of anyone they can put on the bike who is likely to take points away from Dani or MM (well I can, but it ain't happening) and a Yamaha test rider would only use up engine life and possibly even destroy one in a crash, particularly as they have reputedly taken two of this year's engines back to Japan and dismantled them, so they couldn't even run those engines in a lower state of tune.

Wow, just when you least expect it something like this happens. Poor Jorge. I must admit I am not a huge fan of his or anything but I am sorry to read about his injury. So he's out for at least this race then, possibly more.  Hmm that will shake things up, I bet the Honda boys are jumping up and down with glee at what it means for them!!

Damn, that's a heavy fall for Lorenzo.

I don't think we'll see him on track again till Indy.

Give Cal the Factory bike till then.
