Sure. No way is anyone racing within 2 days of an unplated collar bone fracture. I think Dani really smashed his collar bone into multiple pieces, which plates aren't as helpful for short term, and he probably wouldn't have healed in a satisfactory fashion at all without modern technology.
Jorge's pain was probably similar to yours though.

No doubt about it - Lorenzo is a tough little ....... It doesn't hurt that these guys work out and have the world's best personal trainers and top surgeons to repair things like broken collar bones. I was impressed nonetheless. I will say that I don't believe his collar bone was as badly broken as badly as was speculated. Whether folks like Dani or not - I'd say he was just as determined to race after his injuries but they just were simply more disabling. He kept coming back over and over regardless of his having no chance to win the championship.
Back when I was doing my on-the-cheap club racing, nobody I knew worked out or trained between races. I didn't have insurance so I couldn't afford to have my collar bone put back together with high tech hardware - all I had was a home-made sling. I just had to wait for the ...... to heal on it's own and raced when I could - taking a percodan after the race while lying in the back of my van.
