Oh, looking at my old history from my first days:

"Well, no big guys seem to be struggling just yet, mind you, this is Rossi we are talking about."

I'm a big Rossi fan, but I'm also a racer so I understand a bit why what happens happens, but once it's done, it's done. You can't change it.

"Although my favourite rider is a WSBK rider who lapped only 1.1 off the ultimate pace on a Repsol Honda after 20 minutes ONLY........ thse WSBK riders aren't they? biggrin.gif" Nov 2 2006, 09:51 PM

I can't be arsed anymore. If you want to make me appear like a gloryhunter to appease yourself then fine, I won't be a part of it anymore. Atleast it will be clear who the 40 year old is, and the 18 year old.
not such a "big fan" here

still looking, will take a while but very entertaining, even funier when i looked at the bottom of the old thread to see you reading it also, been looking at user last click phleg ?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (roger-m @ Jun 1 2008, 03:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>correct me if im wrong phleg, but im pretty sure you and tom were also writing rossi off saying he is to old and past his prime

Writing someone off is rather different to them bieng past their prime. I have done one and have been very clear to avoid the other.

"This consumes the tyres more at the sides and in the end we don't have any more left. If only leaning a lot counted for anything...

This is a quote from Capriex on the Suzuki. I must be the first to give an apology to Hopkins. This seems to have been his problem on the Suzook as well. As well as it explains the reason Hopkins would fade in the last 4th of the race....

Well... While I am still on Hopkins. He seems to have jumped out of the frying pan and in to the fire. the Kawak is fast in a straight line but he is haveing problems over there as well...

Thank God for another not-boring race. As predicted it took a season for everyone to adjust to the 800s – with lap records being broken all over the place, and plenty of passing. I was almost not going to renew my Moto GP subscription - but watching the last two races live was worth it.

Yay for JT and Dovi. Good .....

Hated to see Lorenzo down but he’s a fighter. I predict he will screw with Pedrobot’s head lots more over the balance of the season. The tiny M.F. still can’t scrap.

Hated to see Hayden riding around on the a badly running bike. Too depressing. Repsol people have their head up their .... It has to be the bike. I have a hard time believing that Hayden turned into ..... Hopefully he will get with a new sponsor who won't be afraid of him kicking Pedrosa's itty-bitty butt.

Don’t count Stoner out yet. Val looks unstoppable – but the last two seasons have proved otherwise.

“are my eyes playing tricks or is caseys mole getting bigger every week.”

The size of Vermulen’s mole is the real illusion – actually his head is getting smaller. You just think Stoner’s is getting bigger because he gets more camera time. You see it more often and it’s freakin’ creepy – maybe even on a bad night – it’s in your dreams creeping up on you while you sleep!

“Anyway, as a race it was another typical 800 race, boring.”

You gotta be kidding. How much more do you need to get it up? Do they need to get off the bikes and start .....-slapping each other? And look at the badge line-up. No maker is really dominating and that’s really good for the sport.

Rossi’s a great racer – but the helmet with his goofy look face on it is so purile.

It’s great to see Rossi proving all the negative predictions about his tire choice – wrong wrong wrong. The guy knows what it takes to win.

1. Valentino Rossi - MAESTRO!
2. Casey Stoner - Down but not out of title hunt yet...nice job!
3. Dani Pedrosa - Too scared to swap paint, but consistent!
4. Alex de Angelis - 1 more year on this team and bike and you will be in touch with the other rookies.
5. Colin Edwards - Well done....you still need to win 1!
6. James Toseland - Keep at it and you will end up top 5 on season!
7. Loris Capirossi - You were lucky Rossi gave a Q-tow otherwise you would have been way back.
8. Andrea Dovizioso - Repsol contract is ready for your signature, Sir!
9. Shinya Nakano - Kawasaki needs you back!
10. Chris Vermeulen - Dude, you are getting beat by an old guy on your team!
11. Sylvain Guintoli - Fantastic Result...number 2 ducati!...
12. Toni Elias - Tiger Tony doing something right
13. Nicky Hayden - What's the excuse today bike, poor tire management, leaves on the track, sun in your eyes, jet lag, HRC conspiracy, mis-alignement of the planets, inablity to adapt?
14. Tady Okada - Tee time!
15. Anthony West - Way to keep it upright!

DNF:
Randy de Puniet - You do like your tumbling, dont ya!?!
Marco Melandri - Shame, real shame!
John Hopkins - You are getting so fat, your leathers could hardly keep the belly in!
Jorge Lorenzo - WTF!

big fan here. post 176.http://www.powerslide.net/forum/Turkey-SPOILER-t4205.html&st=160

Oh yes I remember. Being a fan means I'm not allowed to be critical at any time of my preferred riders .

I'm also a Rossi fan but that doesn't stop me from seing things the way they are. Mugello 2006 was brilliant, this was boring.
How manny passes did we see among the top three after Rossi going in the front? TWO: Pedrosa passing Stoner as he went wide, spectacular, not. Then Stoner passing Pedrosa and that was it.
Yes there were some interesting racing among the rest of the loosers but not really exciting.

such a fan that during the 2 years he has not won a championship you have not put him in your favourite rider part of your profile at all, but now he is on a winning streak you claim to be a "fan" i call that bandwagon jumping, but each to there own.

Great race from the top 4,seems like Valentino had decided to win this long before the race-start.
I was happy to see Casey back in good shape, maybe the Ducati factory and team was as determined to make a good result as Rossi and his team always are.De Angelis did a great race, maybe he will do better from now on.
Seeing the qualifying times yet on racetires there were a few riders doing arond 1,49.5 including Capirossi.
The same thing as Jerez happened again for Capirossi, testing tyres in the practices, doing top times, starting the race in the same pace and then the bike eats the tires and he has to slow down more than the riders around him.
As a Capirossi fan this sucks because it shows that the Suzuki is way behind Yamaha,Honda and even Ducati on chassi design and tractioncontrol.
Suzuki has to do something big, soon in my opinion.Maybe they are waiting for Ben Spies' input from his wildcard races or something!.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Anders GUZZI @ Jun 1 2008, 10:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Suzuki has to do something big,soon in my opinion.

Apparently they have an all new bike that intends to address all their issues for the Brno test. Capirossi's input appears to be immediately valuable, which is a great news for both parties.

I'm not sure i agree, the advatnage that Yamaha currently have is the most significant since Honda's stronger 990 days. However i think that top factories supplying more than one front running team does do the sport good, so i'm pretty happy with what Yamaha is doing.

Wow, I've never been so happy to miss a race in all my life.

13th with 4 DNF's? I can only conclude he has been sacked or relegated to testing. I can see Nicky flushing this season down the drain if he is back on permanent testing duty for the championshipless boy wonder.

Most important thing to me now is seeing Stoner and Lorenzo finish in front of Dani this season. I would relish the opportunity to be at the press conference and ask "Do you have any plans to run the #4 plate for the 2009 season?"

Anyway, I really really really hope Nicky moves to the Ducati organization next year, at the very least he would be making in roads at the most successful WSBK manufacturer. Somebody has to replace Bayliss, don't say Biaggi, he's nearly as old and half as good. Nicky could take the 1098 by the horns in 2010 or 2011 if he's still up to it.

Is it my english that isn't good enough or are you saying that you were writing him off but did not consider him past prime?
Anyway, allthough I've never seen you write him off in sigle races I've certainly seen you considering his future prospects as poor, to the degree that I would consider it writing him off.
Making your previous post even more confusing I would say.

Quite the opposite, i think his best days are over but i know better than to write Rossi off.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (dOdGE.dIZ @ Jun 1 2008, 02:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Well, it is Ducati's main test track, so...

Neil Spalding gave a very good explanation on why the pneu-valve engine isn't a top priority for Honda. The explanation was good, the reasoning behind it may not be. We'll see.
I was not saying it is anybody's fault other than ducati +/- stoner that their bike can't negotiate corners on their own test-track, just that it was an encouraging performance on a track where he only finished 4th last year in a season where he won 10 races.

I also have doubts that the pneumatic engine will have much impact this year, but if they do get it going and it gives pedrosa another 5kmh it would be hard for stoner to contend with him, let alone contend with rossi.

That's very good news,i hope he's hanging in there till then.

I also agree with you Tom that Yamaha clearly seems to be the best bike right now,it probarbly doesn't hurt Rossi to have Jeremy Burgess either. In fact the whole racing department of Yamaha is probarbly the most effective in the field right now i would guess.Kind of like Ducati Corse, also with skilled people, but with more people and tons of money.

Then why don't you just put Rossi to one of your favorite rider ? Give us the truth !

Me too. I'm the first to admit i was one of many who had very little sympathy for Loris with his 2007 results. Ducati was widely credited with having the best bike and at the time I believed this to be the case, the result being question marks about rider performance. With hindsight (and the performance of many riders considered) it appears that the Stoner's frustration at the lack of credit he recieved was justified.

Loris outperforming Vermeullen emmidiately with his arrival at Suzuki is very impressive, and leaves me wondering what Suzuki could have achieved last year with more accomplished riders.
