MOTEGI GP 2011: RACE

Ending up in the gravel is caused by a mistake unless he wanted to end up there lol. He new the bumps were there yet decided to push too hard in that area.

It isn't necessarily that simple. If you judge pureley by the outcome, then yes he didn't get the result he wanted so he must have made a mistake/done something wrong. The consequence of the decision being the key, like how crimes are judged. On the other hand you could look at the decision making process, look at it as a calculated risk. Stoner did what he had been doing every lap, put in the same position again he would make the same decision and do it again and the possibility of another tank slapper is an occupational hazard. If you look at it that way, he didn't make a mistake. Sometimes the right decision can have the wrong outcome.

Guys I'm not defending Rossi this year, he made his bed and he's lying in it. I've also given respect to Spencer on here plenty so you can't grudge me a wee dig when he runs off track when getting chased down by a faster rider.

Pete, and I don't begrudge you one bit as it must be hard this year, what with Hopkins doing ok and all

Rumor has it, that the bump is going to have a press conference later to apologize to Casey. I hear it is going to take full responsibility for its actions. When asked why it would do such a horrible thing by mcn the bump replied, "Everyone else was going around me just fine. But this one ....... kept running me over lap after lap, like a total ..... I kept yelling go around .......! But he wasn't paying attention. I think he was on bluetooth with his wife the whole time....maybe even skype. I may just be a bump in the road, but can only take so much. So I did it. I threw some skittles up at him. I knew he could not resist the candy coated goodness that is the skittle." The bump was then asked if it was going to make the trip to PI? " I don't know maybe. JLo said he would pay for the trip. So I am trying to get the itinerary together so I can bill him. Hopefully he will pay for my hole family. I have some kids and one of them isnt doing well. He is starting to pothole."

There you have it guys, debate over.

Hehe thats gold

Stoner made the mistake of forgetting for a moment where the bumps were, but was quick in limiting damage and also lucky, he could have lost 20 or 25 points there. Anyway, he's the strongest rider and this season looks like 2007 all over again.

Rossi on the other hand had no fault, it was Lorenzo (who had just gone on the grass and lost some traction) pushing him against Spies. Lorenzo didn't do it on purpose, but he did change his line to go wider, something that is always dangerous with all the riders crowded like that.

But he didn't apologize, he even said that Rossi bumped on him...

I'm glad someone on here has the luxury of being able to read Casey's mind

Lorenzo doesn't need to apologise for someone riding into the back of him. It's fine to brake late on the opening lap of the race but if you haven't got the space to get through you are left hoping the people in front of you either brake equally as deep or just clear a path for you. Generally they wont though because they are all looking forwards, aiming for the best line for themselves (it is a race afterall). Unfortunately that means sometimes lines cross and racing incidents happen, this time it was Rossi in the thick of the mid pack where this usually happens.

Wow! normally your posts aren't too bad .......... but thats just plain so far off the mark its looney. You obviously got this "word of mouth" cos none of it accords with actual video of the event. Rossi ...... up again, pretty similar to Assen 08. .

Amazing how quick absolute ........ pervades the yellow army ( Boppers ).

Maybe the Italian GP should have been cancelled. There was more radiation there than at Motegi.

http://superbikeplan...1003muchado.htm

The bumps appeared to be the big hazard in Japan.
<

The dose at altitude in planes is well known, about 10 microsieverts an hour at 30,000 feet due to cosmic rays etc. Decades ago when this was less well known a colleague of mine who works in medical imaging got his father, a commercial passenger aircraft pilot, to wear a radiation monitor and his annual dose was higher than that of my colleague.

Worrying about direct radiation from Fukushima was always a nonsense. I still think jorge got spooked by watching a programme about helen caldicott's view of Chernobyl which is extreme, but concerns about contamination of food and water by long lived isotopes like caesium and strontium which I would not particularly care to ingest even in small amounts myself are less easily dismissed, although afaik this has also not been a significant problem that far from Fukushima apart from low level contamination in beef for some reason fed contaminated rice straw from the vicinity of Fukushima. There was a news item on Australian radio about riders taking their own food and water, in which it was said jorge lorenzo had even showered with imported water.

I liked your call that payback from karma/Japan was involved in casey's encounter with the bump, although it/they seemed to leave jorge lorenzo alone.

That Karma manifested itself in a Rayleigh Wave that travelled around the Motegi Circuit getting payback on the riders. It got Cudlin ( though it actually thought it was Capi ), tried for Spies twice, nearly got Nicky, got Bautista, rolled Dovisioso and Simo forward whilst on the grid. broke Barbera's collarbone ....... it even got Rossi and started a rumour that it was in some way Lorenzo's fault !

And on, and on, and on...and on

Dont know what video clip you've been looking at, but it aint the 1 millions of other people watched on Sunday! Rossi was boxed in because Lorenzo changed his line, he was forced into the side of Spies, thats it, thats all. Easy mistake to make when theyre all bunched together like that

Well Spook I've got the AVI file and watched it. This whole debate is a load of crap. If you've ever raced anything you KNOW the guy in front (and Jorge was in front, not just a quarter of a front wheel but 7/8 of the bike) can do what-ever-the-....-he-wants - push wider, brake check, stop dead if he wants - its up to the guy behind to avoid. Rossi WAS NOT boxed in because Jorge changed his line Rossi was boxed in 'cause he came in a-tiny-little-bit too hot and could not adjust to Jorge's adjustment. Tires touched, Rossi's brake was clipped by Spies bike, end of story. Fairly freakin' common incident in the first couple of corners and the guy behind TAKES THE BLAME.

Compare each rider's line into the corner with Stoner who is leading the race.

Stoner moves in a direct diagonal line from the outside of the previous corner. He continues to get closer to the white line at the edge of the track before he turns in.

Watching Rossi from the exit of the previous corner, he crosses behind Spies to the outside of the track, almost to the white line, then crosses behind Spies for the second time, now to the inside and well in from the line, and finally collides with Lorenzo.

Finally watch Spies, he goes to an outside line and stays to the outside all the way into the corner, thus not running into anyone, other than Rossi.
