MOTEGI GP 2011: RACE

Why bring up an 08 rossi thing into this debate ? WTF has that got to do with casey being unable and not humble enough to admit he made a mistake. FFS if you crash then there must have been a mistake of some sought by definition ! Bringing Rossi into this debate does nothing to strenghten your case. It just shows blindness and spite.

Well I'm sure you could easily stop that Reg.!

The old argument. You and bass pete made the spiteful comments about stoner, mainly for fun I am sure, to which I mainly for fun chose to reply . I point out that rossi has ended in the gravel at least twice without admitting a mistake, in fact including in this very race. At laguna seca 2008 he clearly went into the corkscrew too hot, ended up in the gravel and nearly took stoner out but you seemed not to require any humility from him, but rather denigrated stoner for being pissed off. I think rossi's explanation of his incident in this race was perfectly reasonable btw, but why then is stoner not allowed to have an explanation for his incident?

Stoner's explanation of the incident also accords with every commentator's ( the ones I heard ) speculation as to what happened.

Rossi's does not, nor does it accord with the visual evidence.

Rog. and Pete being Boppers from way back are just applying the typical bopper "smoke and mirrors" reaction to divert what they know is real blame on Rossi. They did exactly the same for the "Jerez incident" attempting to blame Stoner somehow for a mammoth blunder by Rossi

It wasn't a case of just coming out and admiting a mistake it was more a denile (big difference). The bbc reporter put it to stoner that he made a rare mistake. Stoner then claimed / denied this blami8ng the bumps. He then went on to say he had been hitting these bumps all weekend. These same bumps that were responsible for stoner losing his place and ending in the gravel. Now unless he ment to do this he made a mistake that he then went on to deny in park ferme. He new the bumps were there, he chose his line, he chose his pace. He ended up in the dirt. So tell me mike, who fault was that ?

Well why didn't you mention the BBC before
<
Now I know its a load of hocum ! Pffft get real Rog.

and PS. whats it all got to do with denile !??? thats just a big Egyptian river!!

Roger, he said he hit the bumps every other lap prior to that lap without the same effect; on the face of it I see no reason to disbelieve him (niall mckenzie who was a guest commentator, on the australian feed at least, explained the incident in more or less exactly the same terms as stoner during the race at the time of the incident btw). As I also said having such bumps in the middle of the track on the racing line would not seem ideal, motogp and motocross being different series, but he made no complaint concerning this, and I would accept criticism if he had given circumstances in Japan currently. If things occurred as he said, I would see it as equivalent to your ball landing in a divot hole in the middle of a fairway playing golf ( a frustrating game I no longer play), part of the game but not really a mistake.

At Jerez, the fault lay with Freddie flashing his large pearly white teeth at Rossi, who was not wearing a dark visor due to the rain. Also because he'd heard someone say "Your ambition outwieghed your talent" on tv that week and wanted an excuse to use it.

Guys I'm not defending Rossi this year, he made his bed and he's lying in it. I've also given respect to Spencer on here plenty so you can't grudge me a wee dig when he runs off track when getting chased down by a faster rider.

Dig away. For my interest though, why was he worried about dovi who was on a different (and ultimately unsuccessful, otherwise he would have beaten simoncelli) tyre strategy, when he had a 2 second lead on dani and jorge, has shown a preparedness to settle for the podium this year when things are not going his way , and complimented dovi when he relegated him to third in an earlier race this year? I don't think he would have beaten dani anyway, and if the soft rear was the best tyre for the conditions he wouldn't have beaten dovi, and I think he knew that. I guess without the ride-through dovi may have used his tyres up less though.

Rumor has it, that the bump is going to have a press conference later to apologize to Casey. I hear it is going to take full responsibility for its actions. When asked why it would do such a horrible thing by mcn the bump replied, "Everyone else was going around me just fine. But this one ....... kept running me over lap after lap, like a total ..... I kept yelling go around .......! But he wasn't paying attention. I think he was on bluetooth with his wife the whole time....maybe even skype. I may just be a bump in the road, but can only take so much. So I did it. I threw some skittles up at him. I knew he could not resist the candy coated goodness that is the skittle." The bump was then asked if it was going to make the trip to PI? " I don't know maybe. JLo said he would pay for the trip. So I am trying to get the itinerary together so I can bill him. Hopefully he will pay for my hole family. I have some kids and one of them isnt doing well. He is starting to pothole."

There you have it guys, debate over.

I hadn't taken my morning drugs. I did think there were a lot of things more worthy of comment however than Scurvy doing 300km/h down his local street and avoiding that manhole cover.

I think the signing of Simoncelli followed by his beautiful stalk and kill of Dovi was poetry.

Valentino getting sandwiched between two Yamaha's - one of which was arch enemy Jorge "benefiting from all Vale's hard work" Lorenzo.

Spies...what is going on there? He won a race and now he is looking pretty lame.

Hayden and Bautista throwing away good points and results because they really got unsettled by the Stoner move back through the field the 3rd.

The continual proof (Bostrum and now Cudlin) that ring in riders really are a waste of time.

Iannone won his moto2 race (the spoiler thing has already been covered and I agree with Johnny). What ever happened to the days of riders doing more than one class. Personally I would have loved to have seen them jam him full of chocolate and Coca Cola and send him back out on the Pramac bike.

I think I'm mostly pissed about the fact that I had a seat in the Honda stand this year and instead I'm nursing a leg that doubles as a speedbump and NO Phillip Island for me.

Any tickets you want to get rid of?

As opposed to valentino's excursion into the gravel at laguna seca 2008 which would have resulted in both bikes going down if he had been racing anyone else except stoner but was acclaimed as strategic and tactical brilliance by you guys. If stoner made a mistake he made a mistake, if so it is probably the only one this year, not a bad ratio. If he thinks he didn't maybe he didn't , he is known for brash rather than untrue statements. You are also probably entitled not to have to negotiate bumps on the racing line on the tarmac, but circumstances in japan are unusual and that's the way it was; to my knowledge he didn't complain about the bump being there btw .

It is tragic to see once proud rossi fans reduced to such nitpicking
<
, particularly in regard to a race where valentino rather unequivocally encountered the gravel himself.

Hey Rog! Ever heard the expression "pales into insignificance"? Notice how all us "Rossi haters" are bitching and moaning about Rossi taking out Spies? No...? When you clutch at straws that don't even exist, it smacks of desperation.

And I'm loving every minute of it!

I'm a bit surprised none of the Boppers have realised it was actually Stoners fault that Rossi fell.

Stoner in fact brake checked the whole pack, expecting Rossi to go down with the domino effect.

Pure gold!

After watching the race again, i understand Rossi's explanation about their crash. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. When Spies came from right side, then there wasn't any scape road for Rossi and i think he wanted to go back to the left of Lorenzo and at the same time Lorenzo wanted to adjust his position, so they collided. No one is to blame imo, $hit happens.

hahaha

hahaha, bunch of blind fanboys here. Ending up in the gravel is caused by a mistake unless he wanted to end up there lol. He new the bumps were there yet decided to push too hard in that area. The fanboys blame it on his pads getting knocked back but fail to see it was a mistake that caused that. Caseys line was on the bumps they say, well sounds like a mistake there, maybe he should have used a different line then. After all Pedrosa had a fast line that avoided him hitting them that hard. Maybe casey 'one line' stoner should follow a few riders in quali so he can learn a few lines

FFS dude, you sound just like SS56.

Tell me Rog, just what part of "I ran over the bumps 5 gazillion times before and never had a problem" do you not understand?

If you'll bother to watch the replay, you'll see that Stoner's wobble occurred where the riders go over a fairly abrupt crest at high speed. The front gets light just as they encounter some rough pavement. Anyone who's ridden a bike - you have ridden a two-wheeled cycle, haven't you? - knows that headshakes and wobbles occur when the front is unloaded. DOH!

If you'll bother to watch the replay, you'll also see Dovi driving over the exact same section of pavement about 1 second after Stoner. Given that the Hondas are obviously unstable deathtraps, shouldn't he also be BLAMED for making an obvious 'mistake?' DOH!

And what I really can't grasp is where the hell you got the bizarre idea that the bumps are all conveniently placed on an easily avoidable postage-stamp sized piece of track? When you're going 150+ MPH, a feature the perceived as a 'bump' is actually rather large. I'll bet there's a whole section of track full of gentle undulations that become sharp 'bumps' when taken at 150. (Exactly what you'd expect if the EQ caused some ground settling.) Tell us, Rog, how far off-line should Stoner have driven to avoid the evil menace? DOH!

Oh, yea, the bumps are located in the middle of a long straight, so your genius idea of 'slowing down' suddenly doesn't sound so genius. At any rate, these guys get paid to "push hard' and go as fast as they freaking can. That's why it's called racing, Rog. That's why we (at least some of us) watch it. DOH!

For the record, this 'fanboy' doesn't BLAME the event on anything. You don't hear me moaning about the suspension techs ....... up (Incompetent wretches, they should have turned the steering damper up another notch!); I'm not bitching at the Japs for having a 'dangerous' track (as the Brits likely would do if a similar incident at Silverstone resulted in an injured rider.) Should I could BLAME 27 for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Would that make you feel better? I've got a news-flash for you dude; 'Life Happens!' and sometimes the universe smacks you in the ... for no reason whatsoever. At these times you don't wail and cry and BLAME the government, the neighbor's dog, or whatever god(s) you worship; you don't grab a bottle, crawl into a corner, and wallow in your victimhood. No, you pick yourself up and get back to living.

Oh yea, I almost forgot... http://www.powerslide.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif
