I was most impressed/disappointed at how easy the usual two teams came through the field. All these damn rule changes and neutered electronics and we got what? The same damn racing. And the Honda is still harder to ride. Even with a huge lead MM and DP are moving around a lot more than the Yamahas.
Lorenzo HAS to figure that bike out, or this will go on forever. KTM will catch-up in about 8 years. And poor Aprilia is just flushing money down the MotoGP toilet rather than mixing it up with Kawasaki in WSBK. I don't know how long they can pay for this merchandising experiment.

At first I thought, if Lorenzo had pitted on first or second lap, he could have ended up in the top four. But his performance on slicks was crap compared to Dovi.
Marquez called it perfectly as seems to be the norm these days. It can't be forgotten though it's his ability to push so much heat into the front tyres which allows him/gives him confidence to change over earlier than anyone else.
Great ride from Pedrosa.
Excellent race by Vinales and Rossi to get those positions back and not allow Marquez to into Austria with a 20 point lead. I expect them to get some points back off Marquez in Austria.
Pretty sure I heard Lorenzo lost about 15 seconds because he had to wait for the bike.

He didn't have a choice, and he has said so. He was dropping through the field like a 2 ton anchor through shallow water. He might have crashed, if he went another lap or he would fall 30 seconds down for sure. I agree about him being able to warm up his tire quicker than most, but Dani came out blazing on the slicks, too. So what does that tell us? He was already 10+ seconds down, however, so he would never have to race MM, which I am sure he is happy about.

Not sure what to make of the race. Fair amount of drama, but not great racing really.
Hate flag to flag. Good to see Vinales looking on form. If Ducati had their .... together Dovi could have easily had 2nd. Lorenzo's getting good at holeshots, tho not much else. At least the points spread is still pretty tight,

Marquez is not only the fastest rider in flag to flag conditions, but the smartest one as well. Consider that normally the teams keep the second bike identical to the first one at start time, to have a backup ready if anything happens on the grid; but Marc stopped at the end of the second lap (with no signal from the pits) and found the second bike ready with dry setup and slicks. So the move was planned, no way the second bike could have been ready otherwise. And he probably let the others pass him so they couldn't see him entering the pits so early. It worked out perfectly.
