I'll add a bit more of a response later. Right now I'm basking in the glow of the warm and fuzzy feeling felt by your childish rant. I see I struck a nerve, I guess the truth really does sting, eh. hahaha.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Feb 23 2008, 12:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Well where are the articles and youtubes showing Rossi had a mechanical failure?

I thought Yamaha said quite clearly they could not find a problem .... which would explain why there were no articles on "the mechanical problem".
Yamaha definitely said that they could find no mechanical issues, but that didn't rule out sensor failure or a software issue. They sent the bike back to Japan for a full evaluation and shortly afterwards it was reported that it was a software issue which caused the problem going into turn 1. The only article I can find is from the comic, but claims to be from an interview with Brivio.

Of course, if no problem was actually found, would Brivio be likely to come out and say that if asked by the press what happened?

Another case where we can only speculate due to insufficient facts.

Rossi doesn't even have to say anything.

Stoners an arrogant .... and just one of the reasons i dislike him.

Pedrosa finished second, end of story, that cannot really be argued.

However, I don't think rossi was riding to beat pedrosa and hence finish second, he was riding to beat stoner and win races, as is his wont. I don't think finishing 3rd rather than second is very important to him.

It's welldocumented that you hate Stoner - but I don't know where you get the "arrogant ...." idea from. Just more ........ from you Andrew.

The other thing is, my observation is that casey usually tells the unvarnished truth as he sees it, and people look for subtleties which are not there. Whilst I agree with most of you that rossi is the bigger threat, casey may not see it that way. He pretty much had rossi/yamaha's measure last year, but has been beaten by dani in the past and clearly has a lot of respect for him. In dani's 2 wins last year when everything came together he was quite dominant, and rode right away from casey and everybody else, whereas rossi virtually had to carry the yamaha over the line to win.

Rossi on the other hand seems to have it over pedrosa and is more worried by casey.

Interesting take on it. Hadn't really thought of it like that - you could be right there.

I'm sure your version of what happened in Valencia was that it wasn't Rossi's hand that caused the "mistake" or DNFing from the race, but that it was the TIRES that caused it, right? Haha, oh yeah, I forgot, you blame the tires for every time Rossi didn't win.
My objectivity??? Well, to be honest in the past I'm behind Wayne Rainey of Yamaha. When Rossi arrived in Honda (500), I'm no fan of him.I don't know this guy.Until he demonstrated that he can won so many times (sometimes from 3th row of a grid) he got my sympathy. And the biggest moment was when he moved from Honda to Yamaha ( from the fastest bike on a grid to not-so-hopeless bike on the grid). And he won too. Even Biaggi could not believe it. So I do respect HIS ABILITY.Not so many riders can do that.
If Stoner, Pedrosa, WHOEVER....can do similar, then I'll give them credit as good as Rossi is.

Now here is the definition of irony.
You support a rider that makes an art form of victory celebrations and takes in all the adulation he can from a crowd, then call Stoner arrogant.
Perhaps in time we can agree on that, I'm picking it might be around the time Casey says Valentino will never win another race.

I think a reasonable case can be made that the question of the biggest threat for the title is distinguishable from the question of the best rider; on the evidence of their careers so far this is fairly obviously rossi.

I personally think that unless yamaha have significantly improved the acceleration and top speed of their bike with the racing fuel limit relative to the ducati rossi is unlikely to beat stoner for the title, although he will win races through bravura riding displays and sheer force of will. Honda in my view are much more likely to bridge the gap, particularly with flyweight dani on board.

Maybe its an Aussie myth... but Pedrosa has allways been painted as a bit of a "nemesis" to Stoner in the Aussie media ..... so I would thank maybe Pedrosa is his main worry too.

I think he actually still views it that way ..... I think thats why Rossi fans get a bit dejected at the lack of attention ...... perhaps there really was a rivalry between Stoner and Pedrosa from days gone by ..... they spent time together at the Puig farm in their younger days maybe it came from something that happened there ??

But anyway I would have to say from history Pedrosa is the main threat to Stoner ... as was witnessed in 2007.

If you say it was Honda .... then there were a couple of other Hondas ut there .... how did they go?

Sure Rossi fans want to think he Rossi is the main rival ..... but I would think Stoner and Ducati are capable of deciding who is the main rival for themselves ...... and they have aleady said it is Pedrosa on the Honda next year.

Is that where they bred the 2007 honda?

No way!! ...... Any such farms I have seen have allways had a lot of inbreeding going on .... doesn't appear to be much of that happening at Honda ATM
