Lorenzo is backing Rossi up on moving PI race to earlier date.

Something about how unsafe this is and how will Dorna react now, will they go for safety or continue to just look at the profit.

Well, he does complain when he can, specialy during a weekend when he is not in top 3 and things don't go his way, but backing up Rossi....that is new. I don't understand his complaints about safety while he never botheres to show up at SC meetings.

Not only is he backing up Rossi on moving PI. I also read an article with him mentioning that Rossi's timings shouldn't have been taken away from him (for riding more than 10 laps).

Perhaps they're starting to miss each other already, now that they're not gonna be in the same garage for much longer. :giggle:

....... Marc. Hopefully this confirmed in his mind trying to make a statement is stupid.

....... Miller.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Neither of them are saying that putting PI early on the calendar would guarantee better weather. But it does increase the chances of there being warmer track temps if the GP was held in March.

Perhaps a fair point about the track temperatures, but they have had problems with the WSBK race earlier in the year as well. I am not sure how it would stand if not part of an Asian flyaway swing either.

Yamaha after winning 5 of the first 7 races of the season, have failed to win in the remaining 9 races. Yamaha have clearly messed up, even with this star studded factory line up.

Fair point i suppose. Ive lived there for most of my life, its always a gamble with weather especially near the coastline if you get the antarctic winds they can make a warm day quite chilly. But sure, it may well increase the probability of having a warmer day.

Have they said anything about which round they would recommend it gets changed to?

So because the 2016 M1 has problems with cooler temperatures they should move the race? Maybe they should move more races to cooler temperature months to suit the Suzuki? When you have a championship that goes around the world over a period of 8 months you are bound to have poor weather sooner or later. This year there has been a lot.

"The problem is a lot of water, but especially the temperature because when the temperature of the asphalt is so cool it is very dangerous.

"I am one of the riders that pushed to change the date of this grand prix, from five or six years ago, because it is a great shame to come here in the winter. It would be a shame anywhere, but here particularly because it's a great track and if you have sun - also for television and for ride the bike - is something fantastic for MotoGP. But we come here in ten degrees."

His legacy is unlikely to be as a 3 time title winner for Ducati, and I thought the thing with FP1 was ridiculous.

Listen to what people are aaying who have lived there. I lived at Ballarat 100km west of melbourne. It ....... snowed christmas day once. Summer.

Melbourne is a temperamental mistresswhen it comes to weather. 25°c one day, 6°c degrees and raining sideways the next.

That's why I now live in the tropics. Next years weather 20-35°c. Rain december to march.

I saw the replay during the race, the commentators said he went in too hot. Which seemed plausible as Hayden caught and passed him and he didn't have good pace subsequently, finishing behind Redding, Smith and Petrucci. I can't imagine Honda to whom I think he is still directly signed will be too pleased given neither HRC bike finished the race, and Hayden seemed to have his measure anyway as above.

Miller's pace was actually solid but placed him around Petrucci, Redding, Smith and Hayden all race long and at one stage he was chasing Lorenzo so I reckon he was there or thereabouts in terms of pace with that crew (as I mentioned earlier, his top speed was nowhere near Hayden or the Dukes).

IMO only (and Jums will shoot me) but I really want to see another angle of the incident as for mine it was late in the race, there was a light gap and I simply just need to see more angles to determine whether Miller was to hot, hot or ok but Hayden and he were on the same trajectory.

As for Honda, they won the race so won't care to much but Nicky on the other hand, I suspect that he may have been waiting for Jack to get back.

Edit. As for the commentary I simply cannot listen to Harris and that crew so have to admit that I did not listen to much and even with the link I posted I turn the volume down

What a great performance by Cal, one in the eye for all his detractors.
Rossi too had a great race and with no points for Repsol Honda the team title is within Yamaha's reach.

Maybe they both bonded at Motegi after both of them had no warning front end crashes.

Off topic!

Today is the first race in Alpine skiing for men. And there is a guy who sports this helmet (the first time I saw it was 2014):

Personally, I think it is a little awkward if a proffesional athlete wears something of another one. It seems like you don't have your own personality. I can't imagine Nadal wearing a shirt with MM's ant on, or maybe Lorenzo's target.

Mike Jones did really well to step it up to the highest level of motorcycle racing and finish both races. I know the team where very impressed with him, its all to often you see a team frantically get a last minute fill in rider who jumps on the MotoGP bike and push themselves beyond their limits to try and impress only to crash and give the team no results anyway, giving the team nothing back for going to the trouble of giving them the ride in the first place. I remember yesterday the commentators talking with Chris Vermeulen explained that at Motegi he had basically been given a run down of the bike and how it works only 15 minutes before going out to FP1 and after coming in from his very first session was able to give them good reliable feedback to improve the bike on. Mike showed them he could be fast AND finish the races, indicating that he had more in the tank to give and wasn't riding at all of his potential and and earning a point for them in the process

The Panigale he rides in the ASBK series is closer to a superstock than WSBK hardware. Foreign bike, team, electronics, tyres, carbon brakes even foreign track at Motegi.

I'm really happy for the guy!

Ditto AJV and I may well be wrong but I am not sure that he hit the deck at any time across both weekends either and if that is correct, he would be one of very few who could claim that.

I genuinely hope that doors open as a result of the effort and results.

Nicky is my fave rider, but Jack passed him cleanly there. Nicky should've picked the bike up. When I saw it live, I thought Jack punted him off, but the replays show a different story...

I'm disappointed though - Nicky would've beaten Scott, I think.

He was with Bautista for most of the race, but made a mistake and lost time. Impressive.
