Michelin® Australian Motorcycle GP 2016 Nicky Hayden extravaganza with spoilers

Remember WSB 2001? When Troy Corser lead a boycott of race 2 and stood at the top of pit lane with Yanagawa, Bostrom and Bussei to prevent anyone foolish enough to try and take their grid position? The conditions weren't that far off your photo Gaz. I'm amazed the shivering Colin Edwards hasn't recalled this during the BT Sport coverage this weekend since he rode a sighting lap to gauge the severity of conditions.

Absolutely recall it Arrib and recall a bit of BS that Corser copped from some at the time but where he was not backing down despite RD's then persistence.

Corser was a lot of things, but he was not one to back down from a fight where he felt he was right and on that day, he was.

The first row guys were asked about their opininon on moving PI race to earlier date.

MM: not really, we've been here in Feb. and the weather was just as bad.
CC: not against it...(i didn't really listen)
PE: the race is special because of the weather (in a good way), you never know (So basically against moving it)

I guess most riders see it that way. Rossi might be alone there but you never know with Dorna.

Let us not forget that at Japan Rossi was whinging (although he does not whinge, how is it put again) about consecutive races as he found it tiring or something ........... perhaps an ulterior motive to his now request to move the date.

At this rate, one will wonder what his whinge leading to Sepang will be.

That said, again we see riders not agreeing with Rossi and going public ......... this is becoming more frequent so does seem to suggest that the days of silence may be gone

I agree with MM, I've lived in Melbourne for most of my life and the weather is ....... It is always random and doesn't get the predictable & seasonal weather that most places do. If they moved the weekend to another time of the year there is no guarantee that the weather will get any better. Phillip island being so close to the water is even worse than the city.

They showed Marquezs pole winning lap on video pass with the camera looking at home the whole time. It's a shot angle most of the time, it got me thinking though a helmet cam would be ....... awesome.

I wish we could control the cams. Imagine watching a whole race from perspective of rider. Sound and all.

Live active replay, multi view.

Actually there's no reason why that shouldn't be available given the availability of bandwidth nowadays. Dorna is already recording those feeds and storing them locally. Should be able to route them through the cloud to allow total flexibility to the viewer (they already provide 4-5 viewing options so the architecture already exists).

18 rider views plus another 12 general ones streaming in 1080p60fps (extreme case)... would require a bandwidth of about 15-20 MB/s. That's still nothing.

Marquez was 3tenths up going into the 4th sector but lost too much time trying to get by people. If that's the pace he shows during the race it's game over with Vinaeles and Rossi starting so far back

I'm a Tito fan but he is a joke. Can't ride rain or shine. What is wrong with him? :(

How dare you insult Tito The Great! Nothing is wrong with him, he is just sandbagging! Tito has almost everyone fooled into thinking he isn't a threat, but trust me... 2017 will forever be remembered as "The Year of the Rabat".

Every year including this year he gets to stay in the MotoGP is the year of Rabat.

He took few years to go up the ladder in 125 and moto2. Hopefully something clicks for him soon and do better next year.

Thank you for your expert observation Captain Obvious. There is also possibility of Marquez crashing, please add this scenario to your excellent analysis. Where do you figure that hayseed on a factory Honda will place?

I'm also a Tito fan but it is getting real hard to justify his season so far, can not breakout no matter the conditions, no matter what tires no matter which track. :(

No massive fan of Rabat at all here but will say that every rider who comes up should be guaranteed a minimum 2 year contract by DORNA as they need their learning year and should be more settled in year 2 to show some level of 'deserving to be there' (bad choice of words) and thus allow some level of shine

I can't resist sh!t, so I have the multi-screen upgrade at MotoGP. And then watch the single screen coverage 90% of the time. Doh!

If everyone puts on their MotoGP race face and the weather stays the same, the racing behind MM should be entertaining with the grid very different from this last warm-up.

B. Binder wins the Moto3 race in style. Too soon?
