I am a guy that liked Jorge since Pedrosa, Stoner etc were in the 250's. He is wicked fast. He has been from his first intro in the 250's.

I have never seen any arrogance... just major confidence. I think he will get it together but he must take his time. The last few races, except for laguna, he has gone easy in the first few laps to get his confidence up and then he just blitzes the mid packers as he comes through the field.

The only problem that Jorge has is youth(read impatience). He has tried to push and crashed on circuits where the michelins either werent performing or did not come up to temperature.

He is not used to that yet as the 250's are all on the "same" tyres. He will get used to it. Take your time Jorge.. Pedrosa is not loved, Stoner is Bitching and Whinning his way out of the hearts of many and Rossi will leave vacuum that you possibly can fill.

Oh yeah don't forget your nemesis Dovi. Don't let he or DeAnglis get a head of steam. They will be your biggest threats to come...

It is funny you mention this Rog, as your experience with Jorge is similar to a number of experiences that have been relayed to me of people with other riders dubbed 'arrogant' or 'egotistical' throughout the years and just shows how the publics perceptions are influenced by the media.

That said, good to hear of positive 'first hand' experiences (we often seem to hear of negative).

Glad you had a good time as well mate.

Garry
you quite right gaz
most of us only see what the media want us to see, the media seem to thrive on reporting negitivity about some riders (rossi/biaggi. rossi/gibbers) but when your lucky enough to actually meet the person you tend to judge them as you find them.the media love to turn our sport into a soap opera sometimes and we all love to buy into it

I like Jorge more now than I used to, he goes hard.

I think what Jorge found is that when you do the math, just about everybody in motogp has a world championship of some sort, be it 125, 250, SBK or whatever. There are only a few exceptions.

In 250 he was a brash big fish in a little pond and now talent surrounds him and the whole show is only hotting up.

He will come through this and it will be from using the rest of the year as a learning year. He cannot do what he did last year with the same ease. Now he has to learn the bike and the other riders and make the most of his strengths.

Settling for top 10 wont be too bad, I mean Casey came from a go too hard crasher to a world champion and Jorge simply has to understand that he is in the try too hard and crash phase.

Surely he will finish top 5 even if he eases up a bit early in races.

Its a real shame he's definetly not the same kid he was back in the 250's , I really do hope he can get his confidence back. That kids got a few championships on his way.

We have been sponsoring The Clinica Mobile for the second year now and I had the pleasure of meeting Jorge last year at the 30th Anniversary party of Dt. Costa's Clinica at a Villa outside Misano.

Out of all of the riders I met that night, Jorge was the only one who not only shook my hand, but took the time to speak with me and actually asked me what I did in life. It wasn't all about him. Back then he had tried the M1 and just said it was a lot of bike with lots of power...

It made me feel good to have a normal convesation with a rider of that caliber.

I like this dude and think he will get over this hurdle, just as others have done before him...

Here is a pic of him all busted up outside the Clinica at Le Mans...

I want to like him but the Spanish thing gets on my nerves. You know if you win a race and you don't espeaka spanish you no on the TV cause of it. .... that. So I guess I am just boycotting the .......s until they wake up. But I suppose more and more I am liking him cause he is a tough SOB and is fast as hell. He should be Italian.

True that Jorge needs to get past the phase but at least he is in the best possible situation on a factory squad with preferential treatment. Stoner had a .... bike on a .... team when he was going through his phase.

I hope he fully recovers, he was a great 250 rider, although I thought he was a bit full of himself, (but great riders usually are, by nature they have to be)

anyway he was looking as if he was going to be a great rider, but a few hard crashes can really knock your confidence, I hope he recovers and comes back strong after the break.

You are corret Sir!!! And I hope he gets fully recovered as well. I hope ...... Danyell does to. It's not cool to see anyone get hurt. Now I still do not care if Dani crashes out... voodoo mouhaaaa mouhaaa. Heck I think I need to do it again for Vale come to think of it.

bonnieLASS. Lass means girl numbnuts

I'm glad the summer break came after Laguna for him to get a rest... everybody knows hes fast but he did say at the start of the season winning a race or doing well was not his objective this year.

I understand even being a little bit slower in motogp puts you right down the back, he just needs to focus on not crashing whatever the cost and come back strongly next year.

Maybe all these crashes will tough him up a bit, it didn't do Stoner any harm. I feel Stoner has got rid of the fear that way.

I'm actually impressed about his honesty. I think he has truly learned a lot. If he can get through this and return to form, I may have to start calling him the Phoenix of Moto GP

Hey Roger ......, like I was trying to be gender specific. What a ...... ....! Like you couldn't say that as just a saying. Are you that literal. SO your the post police? I know Lorenzo speaks english but if you could retake reading comprehension you might realize I wan't even talking about him AND that I am sure when he speaks to the SPANISH stations he speaks SPanish. The Spanish stations do not play the podium comments of anyone who doesn't speak their comments in spanish. Why the need to start ....?

I hope he gets through it too, and he is an obvious future world champion if he does. However I don't think stoner has had injuries as significant as jorge's, although he did have the shoulder injury in the off season. The only race I recall him missing despite all the crashes was in 2006 for concussion which he has subsequently said he thought was nonsense. Vale of course has never missed a race period.

You know what this situation reminds me of?

Hopper. The guy was supposed to be the next kevin schwantz when he came up, and even managed to do alright on a 500 his rookie season when all the other good riders had 990s. However, I think that all the crashes he's had and the injuries that came with them have gotten to him. I wont forget the time I saw him earlier this season literally shaking on the bike.

The shame is that with Lorenzo, he isn't supposed to be the next schwantz. He actually IS the next schwantz. At the beginning of the season he was probably the most exciting racer on the track. He's probably my 3rd or 4th favorite rider behind nicky, rossi, and hopper. If I want to see anyone win a championship from rossi, i hope its Lorenzo. I seriously hope that he gets his confidence back, because he is a great rider that makes the sport better when he is competing at 100%
