LeMans - Rnd 5 2015 - SPOILERS (Predictions, FP, QP & Race)

Dude, you gotta send me some of the GIFS you have!!! :spin:

Where does your wife's family hail from? Alabama maybe? Everyone I've ever heard use the word (including the guys who do the voice-overs for the car commercials)pronounce it Mahz-dah.

Yeah, that's what I mean...the prolonged 'aaaaah. It's said here MAZ-DA. My argument with me Mrs (no she isn't from hillbilly land) is that you don't say the word "And" as "Aahnd". Still English is a pretty ...... up language, but we invented it so what Brits say goes...

Don't mind me.... it's just a pet peeve.

Clearly, with an essay like that

I love how Cal likes to slag off anyone and everyone. He talks .... about smith, saying he's closer to his factory guys than smith is, yet yamaha factory guys are faster than Honda, so it's a moot point.

I like cal, he's stupid fast, but needs to stfu and just race. Let your speed do your talking pal.

I've got 100's of gifs. I collect them from other forums. Actually, an Audi forum I'm on is a great place to harvest. The one above shows where it came from. The thing with gif's is proper placement as you know. I love those things, totally improve the forum experience. Some of them routinely make me laugh out loud!

Also, I use imgur.com to post them easily. Same with pics. It's super easy to use and doesn't screw with sizing.

It's a common criticism of Cal, and it doesnt bother me one way or the other really. However the flipside is people often complain about 'automotons' in racing, how characters of old are gone and new riders just do mediaspeak, but then they moan about riders like Crutchlow?

Oh I know, it's just you seem to get epic ones!

Also - WTF can't the freakin' ........ Brit announcers pronounce the name Andrea? They always add that nonexistent "r"; Andearea. It's as annoying as when they say Jag-you-arrre. :p

It's our car company, so we can call it wtf we like! ;)

TBH, it's a Jag-you-a, short "a". Like Maz-da. At least it is in the UK Midlands, where they are made ;)

I've heard peeps from the US pronounce it Jag-waaah - maybe they come from the same parts as pronounce Mazda, Maz-daah.

I always find it odd when a marque you are used to hearing pronounced one way is said another. In the UK it's Mer-say-dees. In Oz it's Mer-cee-dees. Recently I heard a German guy pronounce it more like the latter than the former, so maybe we've been wrong all along ;)

Mind you, the Germans say BMV, not BMW - how do the Yanks pronounce that?

Sorry for the continued threadjack - as you were :p

We say BMW. Most people call vw volkswagon. I personally use the German pronunciation, as I do for a majority of words of German origin.

There's no place for logic on this forum!!!

I'd NEVER say BMW, never.

Easy, it would be living in London, turning all the communities into a mini-India where white people feel like a spot on a domino...

Here's a link to Krop's article. It's germane to my earlier post regarding Stoner's Ducati and the fact that his winning on a terrible machine impeded proper development, not the other way around as Migs asserted. Nothing personal buddy, I just think you've got the chicken and the egg confused here.

https://motomatters.com/analysis/2015/05/17/2015_le_mans_motogp_sunday_round_up_why_.html

Been travelling for work this week...so a bit behind on the forum....
Interesting article by Krop....but I dont agree with all of it...

Casey in my view was given a winning bike in 2007....though it was 800 and not 990 cc anymore....the basic package he received was a winning one.....See Capirex 2006 and in 2007 Loris could win and get on the podium with the same package Casey had...

Once Casey became the number rider....he would have led development direction for the Ducati...and each year until he left for Honda...the Ducati got worse and worse...as per all his post-Loris teammates couldn't win on it and barely get on the podium....

Then Casey moves to HRC.....after Livio S had left for HRC....Casey gets on a winning bike in 2011.....and wins the title again...
Now Livio already knew about Casey's development talents....and probably pushed or moved HRC to 'hear' what Casey was saying about the bikes needs but to listen and follow Dani's development directions.....

2012 Casey is winning then decides to retire...so the development would have continued in the direction Dani has been taking the bike.....

2013 Along comes Marquez.....new hasn't developed a MotoGP bike before....so who is more likely to still be in charge of development? Dani....

2014...MM comes along and bike is winning but is development going in the direction of MM....or has HRC learned that fast at all costs is not necessarily a good way to develop a full package for an army of riders....

2015....Dani goes out after first race....and now HRC as per Krop...is the 3rd best bike on the grid....and HRC are saying they happy to have Dani back for his input on the bike.....Why? IMHO because Dani is the lead development rider for all HRC....d

Casey is a show piece rider that jumps on the RCV once every 6 months to make headlines....he gives HRC input they note it to be polite, roll out some ambiguous and mythical figures, and then listen to what Dani says....

No doubt Casey was a great rider....but he couldnt and cant develop a bike...

migs just shows us a shallow view of bike development. dear migs, maybe you don't remember or don't want to remember, as you don't like stoner, but the tires are a very important key for a wining bike. i`m not praising stoner`s development skills, but the tires changed every year following a championship win by stoner.

It makes sense. Anyway, things aren't black or white. I guess Honda (and Ducati) listens to all his top riders.

Or maybe Dani is the man who improves the bikes that allow his teammates to win the championships... :)

Hmmmm, maybe Stoner is not the best test rider in the world after all...?
Just a passing thought.

Maybe Dovi is.

No way J4, Dovi's results are all down to the speed of the Ducati.

Remember 2007 ????

;)

Nice hypothesis Migs and one could potentially see logic in it, but that ignores the numerous reports from multiple sources that outline the steps and improvements in bikes that Stoner asked for and was not given and yet now appear on the Ducati (as an example)

To me (and yes there is bias) there are to many stories of Stoner reporting issues to mechanics and/or technicians where the report was not taken seriously only for it to be validated later when the motor blew or as development continued.

On the same but different note, and I have stated this many times but it is not the job of a rider to develop a bike that others can ride, it is their job to develop a bike that suits them and their style.

No rider wants to be beaten and thus, they will suggest changes that are for them and their benefit as their job is to win the race and championship. Sure the manufacturer may not care which rider wins the title as long as their machine wins, but no rider will develop a bike for their team mates benefit (deliberately) as any rider who does so is only helping his closest opponent.

But as has been mentioned, to overlook tyres in the whole saga is to have eyes closed to a critical and crucial component of the entire development process as no matter how good a bike may be mechanically, if the tyres do not suit the bikes dynamics then that bike is a long way behind to start with and (IMO only) this is where I feel Honda are at present.

The conspiracy theorist in me feels that tyre development is NOT being led for or by Honda at the moment

Exactly

Mick Doohan went with the screamer engine over the big bang in the NSR because he thought Creville wouldn't be as comfortable with the power delivery of the screamer. That's the job of the number 1, screw your teammate first & worry about the competition next.

Migs, you should understand this, your mate Rossi is a master at screwing his team mate. Rossi wasting negotiating on Lorenzos behalf with Bridgestone, and the wall between himself & Lorenzo stayed long after they were both on Bridgestone.
