Can't imagine a better way to start the season!

Now is in Stoner's hands to make it even better...

Gui22a, If you want to turn every thread into a hate-ism of Krop then either place him on ignore or stop posting. By all means, if you have something insightful to contribute do so, but enough of the 'Krop is full if .....' agenda every post.

I'm beginning to think maybe he DID shag your girlfriend....cheeky ....... :p

She swore she was single!

That we like the Open set of rules or not, they seem to be working.
Ducati took one year of development to regain competitivity (rather than 3), Suzuki and Aprilia are back, KTM is on the way... for once, not bad Dorna.

It is a real shame the rules keep changing. Yes, the sport is drifting further and further away from its original intent, of being a single class for prototypes, but you could argue that the end of prototype racing came when they banned forced induction. That was before WWII, so it's been a while.

The different classes and different regulations are a form of performance balancing, and that has so far worked out well. Anyone who didn't enjoy this weekend's racing needs to see a doctor urgently, as their adrenaline glands appear to be malfunctioning. But as the performance balancing is held together by a fine web of regulations, it will need constant tweaking to keep it working, and that risks sending the series off in entirely the wrong direction.

"The concessions for Ducati – now applied to Suzuki and Aprilia – were vital. Without them, Ducati would not have been able to develop the Desmosedici fast enough, and become competitive before the patience of Philip Morris ran out. If Ducati had not be granted concessions, they would no longer be in MotoGP."

Krop LOL.... and how do you know that? Unless you decided that they no longer should race. kkkkkkkkkk

I wonder where the hell he takes this bullcrap from, "gossip" + "rumours" + "Krop thinks" = "true".

That's what I'm talking about. This is not journalism, is "guessism". Stop this .... if you want some real respect.

The guy is a professional journalist. He travels to most every race and spends his time in the pits socializing with the riders and goes to press conferences and makes friends with managers and factory people - for a living - so why does it strain your sense of credibility that he might have sources for info that you don't??? If you have solid inside sources that have passed onto you info that contradicts what Kropo has said - please state them. But if what he says simply doesn't fit your narrative - then really - stop making a fool of yourself. Jumkie was Kropo's best friend until Kropo said MM was going to be a giant of rider and since Jum hated Marquez - he decided to hate Kropo and all the Jumkie sycophants jumped on the bandwagon like village idiots with pitchforks and torches in a Frankenstein movie. Those guys are all over at the other site. If you want to abandon critical thinking in favor of crowd hysteria group-think - you should think about joining that scene. The in-crowd is just a few clicks away.

I'd be happy if you could send a link.

Maybe it's because there was a several minute long broadcast black-out on MotoGp's site, but they never showed the part of the post race interview with Rossi, but more noticeably, there was no footage showing a 4th bike in parc ferme this time. I think we've all had enough of that ......

"Prototype" is a word that never meant what people here seem to imply by it, i.e. some kind of machine purpose-built by NASA-like laboratories with the only limitations of available technology.

MotoGP is a championship for "reasonable prototypes", machines that are usually custom-built according to a set of precise parameters, as opposed to engines and bikes derived from stock. GP never was a completely free formula, while on the other hand the use of stock-derived parts was never forbidden either.

Whatever they have done for the Open class never strayed away from the "reasonable prototypes" concept, only easing some of the most stringent limitations in order to make it easier for all manufacturers to field bikes and speed up development.

Moto2 is the true anomaly in the current schema, with their one-brand stock-derived engine, and that really should be corrected introducing "prototype" 500cc engines with two cylinders. That would re-create the possibility (that once was there) of having a basic cylinder-head unit for Moto3, which could be doubled for Moto2, and quadrupled for the Premier Class.

V-Twin you say? Let's bring out the ol' Pantah engines out!

Actually, even though I'm dreaming here, I would love to see the Moto2 class with high revving V4 engines. 400cc to 600cc, doesn't matter to what they choose.

Why you ask? Because that would translate to a road-going V4 middleweight bike. Which I've been waiting for years!

Wow! What a surprise. Headmaster Keshass Krishna is asking someone to leave because hes not following the keshav etiquette doctrine.

Not necessarily V-, but twins.
250, 500, 1000, -- singles, twins, fours.
All with 81mm bore, if that is what they want.
Oh well never mind, I suppose I love simmetries.

But I would like Ducati to take one cylinder off their Desmosedici and race in Moto3,
Or slice it in half to race in that kind of Moto2.

The problem is, you either have true prototype racing or close racing. IMO you can't have both. We know that if there were no rules, most likely Honda would have a forced induction rocketship capable of cornering so fast the riders wouldn't be able to hold onto the bike ;)

For close racing, you have to tweak the rules as you say. WSBK has done this for a while to take into account the Ducati twin but then you're always going to have one manufacturer pushing their own agenda, so it's impossible to please everyone, but if round 1 is anything to go by they seem to be doing a good job. A lot of the casual fans probably don't care about the concessions, they just want to see close racing.

I raced in a kart series last year with my 10 year old kart. It was supposed to be an amateur fun budget thing but quickly got out of hand with ..... buying newer machines and bending the rules. So I called them on it and they got the hump so I ...... off with a bunch of drivers who wanted to stay budget and now we have a great time.

It was there, I certainly saw it on the BT Sport feed.
