Went back and listened to the beginning of the commentary and Gav Emmett says DePuniet will be testing the 2014 Suzuki in Japan later this week.

Werent you guys saying 2 races ago Pedrosa just doesnt have what it takes and will never have a chance at winning the title? Your opinions sure do change quickly.

It was worse than that - some on here wanted to have him hanged!

Would that be a CRT or a prototype?

Yes, there are certainly some drama queens around here who have tendency to wrap up a whole years worth of racing after 1 or 2 events. Then advocate replacing one of the top 3 racers on the planet with a variety of riders, none of whom could wear his tiny jock strap. This is a funny place sometimes.

<p style="margin-left:0px;font-size:1em;color:rgb(136,136,136);This is what Jorge Lorenzo said in the official Yamaha press release. "In the beginning of the race the bike was not the same as warm up but not so bad and I could follow Andrea and Dani. I was losing a lot in some areas of the track but recovering in others. Then after three or four laps the bike got worse and I got problems everywhere. In the braking because in the middle of the corner I didn't trust the rear tyre and in acceleration because the rear was spinning so much I lost nearly half a second compared to the others. Races are like this sometimes; last year I won by 20 seconds with a very good bike and this year was completely the opposite. I couldn't do much more without crashing.”

Good viewing.

Dani - great ride

Cal - GOD

MM - impressive

Dovi - deserved podium

Nicky - nose bleed. Hasn't been so high in a while

Sounds like Cals crew have been round and nicked his chassis.

Same complaints as Cal all weekend.

Are we starting to see flaws in the Yam?

Deffo seems the 2012 version is the best in the wet.

Maybe the 2013 has a disadvantage in wet weather.

Never thought I would ever say this, but I hope Dani takes the title this year.

My sympathies have been growing for the Bot since 2007 when Puig said "When Dani ride the bike, he can do" after Dani's win at Sachsenring. In fact, the RC212V was a nail and the Michelin tires were somewhat problematic compared to their Bridgestone counterparts. He started to climb on my evil list after the riders began shedding weight to cope with the mature 21L rule, but, with the arrival of Marquez, Pedrosa seems like a thoroughly decent individual. I generally try to stray from these kind of petty character evaluations, but when someone nearly takes Hayden out of championship contention, they are deserving of the most intense scrutiny.

Masterful ride by Cal today. He's doing the SBK paddock proud, though he definitely needs to get his inconsistency sorted.

Re: Yamaha, I believe MotoGP moves to 20L and spec ECU next season, right? Perhaps this is an instance when Honda does particularly well in the last year of a formula b/c they have enough funding to continue development on the current machine and develop machines for the new formula. Perhaps, Yamaha are already looking to 2014.

Pretty interesting to see the ebb and flow in terms of rider support on this board over the years. When I first came here this board was pretty anti-Pedrosa, now that he has shown himself to be a serious contender starting from last year people's attitudes are changing. Lorenzo is getting mocked a little more given his recent struggles. We're so reactionary.

This race just shows how much Lorenzo is a traction control reliant rider.  There is always talk about how metronomic he is.  In my opinion, it is not Lorenzo that is metronomic it is the TC that is the real metronome.  He rides it to where the TC controls every corner entry, apex and exit.  That is why his laps are always so similar and why he has to do race simulations so the TC can be set up to handle and maximise the deteriorating tyre.

In this race, when they had no set up time for the TC he is all at sea.  He can not fall back on throttle control like the other riders do.  He complained of the tyre spinning up so much.  Well, so does everybody's but that is what the hand on the throttle is for, modulating the power to the rear wheel by feel.  This is something that Lorenzo has lost since his 250 days.

The most important man on Lorenzo's side of the garage is the electronics man.  He is the real WC.

I wouldn't take it that far, MA. But I do think you have a point.

The Yamaha seems to have been set-up for the extreme corner speed/side grip style of Lorenzo. So the settings and data (both Mechanical and Electronic) would be concentrated on that style. And this weekend it seems they had no particular answer to the lack of grip.

But what puzzles me is that WUP was wet, wasn't it? (I haven't seen any footage, just the sheets, was it actually wet? or just declared wet? did it dry out?) And Lorenzo topped that session....with a wayyy faster lap than anything he pulled in the race....

Sounds like it's 2007 all over again.
