LeMans 2013 Race Thread

All we need is some rain to spice things up a little. Was hoping one of the Ducati's could pull something special off in the damp conditions, but their hopes faded when the rain stopped & the track improved. Terrific rides from Cal & Pedders & Marquez did an amazing job to recover from some mistakes early. Not sure what happened to Lorenzo. Had no speed. Rossi looked threatening early but started to struggle before he lost the front.

Perhaps the Ducati boys could still snatch a win if we get a full wet race?

a 4th and a 5th for Ducati, they nearly always finish consecutively. i think thats the best double Duc finish in quite some time.

I feel relieved for Dovi, I am really wondering what was going on in the factory Yamaha garage....even the Duc 4 and 5 beat Yamaha 7th and 12th.

Both Rossi and Jorge are capable of winning and mixing the top 3 in those conditions. I bet some tyre guy is going to get slow roasted over that.

Good rides by the top 5 riders.

Race results are too dependent on tyres. Admittedly even without the control tyre the rain tyre might still have been the same for all, but I don't see why all the manufacturers can't have tyres which suit their bikes. If bikes have to be continually changed to suit changing tyres, it helps Honda in the long run, and I think they are particularly motivated at present.

First wet race I've ever really enjoyed. Dovi was great. Marky shows an amazing capacity to recover from mistakes. Good for Cal. All in all, a good season so far.

Great Show

Well that was entertaining. What the hell was up with Lorenzo's bike?

May be engine mapping screwed up? Guy just didn't seem to have any speed

Maybe Jorge still has Jerez on his mind?

That might affect him in a head to head with MM, but his performance was most uncharacteristic; I suspect he just couldn't get a set-up in the conditions, or had some active problem with his bike.

Second master race in a row for Dani, starting to rack up wins at an impressive pace. He has won 8 of 12 races starting at Indy last season. New championship leader.  Congrats to Cal on his best finish ever. Marquez still learning at an exponential rate on a GP bike, is a serious title contender. To bad for Dovi, wet or dry, ducks eat rubber. Solid finish for Nick. Where to begin for factory Yamaha and Lorenzo. How can you be so good one year, and so bad the next on the same track under same conditions, tire choice?. Rossi is not a contender, wasnt before this race, but removed any doubt with todays finish. After 4 races, he is a race and a half down on points. Sure, anything is possible, but it will take catastrophy on others part for him to sniff another title. Stick a fork in him, he is done.

Couldn't believe how much the bikes were squirming around on those tyres in the last 10 laps. Dani getting on with the job, Jorge can't afford to let him get on a roll of wins. Dani is a confidence type of rider who seems to get better and better when he finds his form.

We haven't seen the best of Marquez yet, he is still learning a lot. He looked like he forgot how to ride in the first few laps but had it dialled in towards the end.

Nice from Crutchlow and Dovi, getting on with the job and making their teams smile.

It makes me sad that Rossi's career is going to go out with whimper. Today was a race he could have won. That opportunity might not come up again for a while. Or ever.

It went by me so quick.... who was it that Gavin said has agreed to sign for Suzuki next year???

Rossi did have the second fastest lap of the race. There seems to be something strange happening with the factory yamahas and their tyres this year.

Certainly Crutchlow didn't want to be on any of the two 2013 factory M1s this time, the 2012 factory he rides was actually better in this case (in fact it is the bike that won last year at Le mans in the wet, if I remember well).

Werent you guys saying 2 races ago Pedrosa just doesnt have what it takes and will never have a chance at winning the title? Your opinions sure do change quickly.
