Launch control SCRAPPED for 2009!!!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Austin @ Feb 18 2009, 09:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I'm of the belief that the fewer rider aids, the faster Hayden will go so I suppose I agree with your sentiment. I guess I don't recall his issues with the launch control. Then again, I tuned out most of 2007.

Why do you guys must always bring up Hayden's name in every thread?? Enough already.

Why is it a big deal? The most popular riders will be topic of discussion in any thread. Hayden is a popular rider. Because rule changes on their own offer limited exciting discussion. It's far more exciting to speculate on how riders will adapt to the changes.

If you bothered to read back a tad further you may have come across my post where I said this:
Are you plain stupid or do you just play stupid. At least bother to read through your own posts.
Just like when it comes to favorites and perdictions you sverve all over the place and make sure you cover all bases and then some. But anyway, this is the post I replyed to:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>But one thing did occur to me ...... you might be right ...... perhaps what we did see was how Pedrosa will start in 09. However in that case I'd say since the bike virtually just got vertical then fell sideways ...... Pedrosa is one quick acting customer in which case I suspect in general he will be a great starter.
And it was more of the same in the first section of the post.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>which is obviously based on his past riding ...... not on a single "episode".

Don't even bother BM, it's all to clear that you use little else but your crystal ball in your predictions, and asumptions. It's sure as hell isn't based on fact's and knowledge.
Or what's your predictions for the old rossi in a steep decline in form. It was 4th or 5th last year, 10th this year?

You really need to stop using babel on my posts babelfish ...... either it stuffs them up, or you can only take in part of the story in at any one time, or ....... you fabricate so many fairy stories you don't know when to stop.
Looking in the miror Barry?

Looking in the miror Barry?
we all know he is full of contradictions but go easy on him babel, after all he's only followed motogp since the middle of 07 season.

i still want to know how he can say pedros flip wasnt that of a 200bhp bike. must have a dyno built into his tv

he's actually right...the bikes make like 230+horses, not 200!

but that wasn't his point or mine if you read the posts !

It'll be interesting to see how this works in practice, and if/how teams try to get around it. In theory it should be safer if all the bikes don't reach turn one bunched together at the same speed. As for who it should work for and against, hasn't Rossi always been poor at starts? And Didn't hayden spend a lot of 06 frying clutches with his starts? Both issues could potentially resurface, but overall i wouldn't expect any one person to have a huge advantage or disadvantage.

You guys are missing an important point.
Launch control is banned. Traction control is still OK. All that will happen is the TC will be dialled in for the start. They will bring in slipper clutches that allow the rider to gas it up and dump the clutch with full power and minimal wheelspin. I realise that LC and TC are different, but end result, .... all difference. Bet there is less than 1/10th sec difference to the first corner for a guy who gets a good start without LC.
The guys in MotoGP all know how to start. I doubt anyone is significantly better or worse than anyone else. One day Pedro might get it perfect, the nect not so perfect. Same for Rossi, same for Stoner, and the same for the dude driving the M6 pace car.
It will bring in a variable though because someone might get it wrong.
These guys are in MotoGP because they are the best riders. They all know how to get the best race start from their bikes, and tyres.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Feb 22 2009, 01:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I would suggest that given that Pedro's bike has somewhat more than 200 bhp and weighs a rather minimal amount. Had the launch control failed and Pedro merely just plain "dropped the clutch the bike would have reacted somewhat more dramatically than that. In other words yes launch control may have failed however I still think there was a fair amount of input from ...., its just he expected the normal interference from LC and none was there. hence the bike didn't do much more than flip on the spot. I guess LC also incorporates wheelie control and that was also obviously malfunctioning. But the incident was certainly no 200bph unleashed at the drop of the clutch.

Clark ( read the wording )
Rog. ( read the wording )
Babel ( for you to translate
<
)

Slipper clutches disengage the clutch due to torque generated by the rear wheel so they would have nothing to do with starting the bike. It will all be in the riders hands. What does "dialing up" the TC mean? Is there a special dial-up knob somewhere that goes to 11 or something? Launch control would use some of the sensors during the initial acceleration and would have to be manually turned on and off. Now it will be disconnected and removed forever putting a few hundred good for nothing nerds out of work.

With regards to your avatar change gsfan, I'm pretty sure Rizla are close to signing on again.

I agree with you alltough Honda might loose a slight advantage. It seemed like both Hayden and Pedrosa where well over average starters last year. And both have their separate disadvantages that suggest they did have the best lanuch control last year.
