Jordan headed to MotoGP

I hope Jordan makes it into GP, it will be good for the sport. will he sponsor US riders? If he does, I hope everyone remembers the bitching that went on with Repsol sponsoring only Spanish riders.

Please tell me you're joking or smoking ?? I doubt anything MJ will field will be anything remotely comparable to a factory Honda team with regards to rider opportunity.

So is it ok for an American team to support only US riders because the team is not likely to be competitive, but a Spanish sponsored team shouldn't support only Spanish riders because the team is competitive?

Now that's putting words into my mouth. I never said that nor implied it. It's not even known whether MJ will enter gp let alone favour american riders. Even if he did i doubt it would be a first choice for most American riders , given the choice. At the end of the day there are only 4 competitive bikes in motogp, 3 of which have spanish riders. I doubt any of these would jump ship to go on an MJ seat. I also doubt the riders that are on that seat will be the envy of the paddock (well maybe Ductai riders) lol.

You need better bait!

Give Casey a call ;)

change Repsol for Aspar, Pons racing, Monlau then. maybe you have been away for too long or haven't been up to date with what's being written, but the word was the team should support riders from other places other than Spain. You know, to make it a proper world championship... Without unferstanding that right now the best riders are Spanish and the sponsors/team owners are spanish. I hope Jordan puts US riders on his bikes, if it does through will bring interest from other parts of the word. And most important, the owner/sponsor can do whatever they want with their money.

The best riders are Spanish ?? maybe true, maybe not but that's face it, where unlikely to find out .It's all to easy to label a rider the best when he is on the best bike. Talk Cal, on a sat bike and regularly beating a factory yam and even beating dani on occasion. Was he ever going to get the chance of one of the top 4 bikes ? I doubt you would ever consider him one of the best and that's because he was never going to get the opportunity to prove it. So tell me, if Dani retired who would you tip for his seat ?

That's the thing Rog, a national sponsor will always prefer a national rider. You have no British sponsorship, and that's a bit sad. Considering British racing history. More Jordan's should show up to play.

For dani's spot, he's got a few seasons left. Maybe marquez junior will be ready!!

Didn't mean to put words in your mouth - I was just asking the question. I still call ........ on "only four competitive bikes", has anybody actually been watching how much faster Lorenzo and Marquez are riding their bikes? And I don't mean that they are trying harder than say Crutchlow or Bautista or whoever (I'm sure most riders do what they can), but that they are doing it better. By far. The difference between a Factory RCV/M1 and a Satellite RCV/M1 is not the difference we see at the end of every race.

It's not just just the difference in bikes from factory to satellite and when your racing for 10th's there is a difference. It's the difference in team and personal duty's. A factory rider has only to concentrate on the race, he doesn't even need to tie his own shoe laces. Then there is having the set up you want rather than the set up your told to have. This is something Casey Stoner talked about plus Cal told he could not have Brembo's unless he bought them himself. Being a great rider and being able to compete for a championship is very much about the whole package rather than 1 thing. It is all about all the little things on the end making a big difference. On the face of it 1 10th a lap sounds like .... all, especially in qualifying. Now multiply that over a 27 lap race.

If that was the truth don't you think a satellite bike would have won at least once in the last 7 to 8 years.

If they had the right rider, it would be close.

I think it's obviously the combination. A factory bike is harder, all round. Harder accelerating, harder stopping, harder suspension and general 'fit and finish' is better/slicker/harder.

If your factory bike allows you to get the power down one second earlier or brake one second earlier, that's a couple of metres advantage, on every corner. Add in a rider that has the ability to put the power down earlier and brake later and there's a couple more metres.

So you've got a satellite rider who can go balls-out and match the braking, can finagle getting the power down earlier, can match corner speed, the factory bike with more power is just going to pull away that bit more.

Put Lorenzo on a Tech3 and Cal on a factory M1 and they will be close - but I still expect the factory bike to finish first.

Thats an interesting thought mate.

What we need is an off season race series. Give em all R1's or S1000's or Fireblades or whatever as long as all is equal. Have a round robin style format, 5 bikes per 3 lap blast, qualifying like speed trials, braking tests. Points for fastest qualy lap, fastest race lap, top speed achieved in a lap etc. Could go to different countries each year, superbike riders welcome. Bit like race of champions but for bikes.

Actually I take that back. Lorenzo by a comfortable margin, Cal's bike isn't that bad and Lorenzo is that good.
