John Hopkins

JT is the biggest hope our country has of bike racing success, hopefully people will get behind him.

I went to Goodwood last year and Toseland was there along with Vermeulen, Stoner and James Ellison to name a few.

I was unimpressed with JTs personality as he basically decided to screw all his fans standing a few metres away waiting for his autograph and left Stoner and the rest to it when a lot of the WSB fans only wanted to see him.

What does this say about him as a person?

I feel the same way when a celeb snuffs the fans off, but keep in mind these guys are sought after day and night. It may get a bit tiresome. This may have been a off day for him, maybe not, I don't know enough about him. But if he does it repeatedly like a certain former champ I've seen in the AMA whos first name stars with "M" and ends with "T" and has an "A" as in "......." in the middle of it, then yes, I would say he is a jerk.

Hoppers Dad won a Isle of Man TT race but was disqualified cause he was only 15.
Me thinks it hopper wins he will raise the Manx flag ! Which i still aint got yet Ben !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Toseland------------- Repsol Honda 2008. Nicky Hayden WSBK!

maybe 2009...

I will bite.

Hopkins is the best American on the grid.
His blood is English but his nationality is American.

When he wins a few races and someday the championship he will have the American flag with the American Anthem playing. In his hand he may hold a Union Jack flag but for the records he is an American.

He's the best rider out on the grid other than for Rossi.

Yeah, Hopper is super superest doopper, the best ever ever in the whole wide world nobody is better nobody.... except for Hayden.

He's ours, we're claiming him.

Dunno about Repsol, but the Italian media seem to have it for a fact that JT will be in Motogp as of next season.
As for Hopper..I like the guy. I love his spirit. My biggest memory of him is kicking the .... out of his bike though!
<
Isn't there a small possibility that a lot of the hype around him got propagated by 'Faster' when they touted him as THE next champion and THE up and coming young guy who would topple off Vale's crown? Maybe it's just that he's never been on a bike that's up to scratch? But if that's the case, why hasn't one of the better teams made him an offer he can't refuse?
If he were to win I hope he'd show off his tattoo..mmm..both flags on there. No arguing!

WELL you "FOLKS" in the "DEEEEP SOUF" can have the The KenLucky Kid..
aka "Trick Daddy"
<

Maybe he'll invite his fan at the end of the season to a "HO-DOWN", or "HOOT-NANNY", or whatever it is the sister f##ckers are calling it this year..

Hopper is more the type of American i know and would be-friend....along with Colin....

OH!, and just for the record...HOPPER is a better ryder than Nick or Toseland.

I guess they mean not until ’09 cause of Hayden’s 2 year contract with Repsol HRC and also them having ‘the next best thing’ Pedrobot aboard!

So as Bikergirl points, maybe some other team.

I know you're probably just kidding around about Nicky. I mean, he really seems to be a nice, honest guy. His accent may be different from others, but so what? That's what makes the world so interesting. Our differences.

And I don't know if Hopper is "better" than Nicky or JT. I mean, he's my FAVORITE rider, but I wouldn't say he's better than them. Nicky has won an AMA Superbike crown and the MotoGP world championship. That has to mean more than Hopper's AMA Formula Xtreme crown, right?

Hopper's actually got 2 championships, not just one.
Although none are as high caliber as MotoGP Crown.
And the FX crown was back in the day when FX actually was a good class and had a different name to it.

Hopper has been given contracts by Ducati and Yamaha but on both accounts he has denied them. The reason why is something along the lines of him wanting to develop and ride a bike that he himself "made" and the accomplishment will be that much greater for him rather than jumping on a bike that he has no history with and winning with it.
At Suzuki he has direct factory support. With Ducati he would too but with the satellite Honda and Yamaha teams he would be second or third or whatever in line and he does not want that.

Also, he has the whole (most) of a team built around him and his style and they are his family. If he moved to another team he wouldnt be able to bring them all alone ala Rossi and he would have to start all over again.

Plus, he has had a long history with Suzuki and he got them a championship with them here in the USA with them. Brand loyalty I guess.

I personally hope that if the Suzuki is no good for him this year or next year he should give up with them and move to another team, a high caliber team.

Wow, its not everyday that a fan of a guy can give props where they are due, even if its another rider. Cool.

How do you think riders will be remembered, by brand loyalty or championships they have won?

I think Hopkins is much to go to stay with a poor machine. If you are right, then its a bad career decision. Imagine what he would have done on a Ducati? This last weekend he was giving Pedrosa (what some people think is the heir to the throne) a run for his money. Damn, what might have been.

My advice to Hopkins: .... Suzuki.

championships for sure.

and i agree hopper should get a better ride if he wants to be up the sharpend and a title contender.

"F" around he mite just raise both and leave everyone in bewilderment..LOL
would love to see him pull a few podiums this yr.The man is so deservring ,imo.

Looks like the general consensus is the same.
He is a great rider with a poop bike that needs to get on a better ride.

Maybe this year the Suzuki will be better??
They have had good testing form (Testing is sort of a poop judge though) and a good first race giving the ASIMO machine (I honestly like Dani) a run for his money. Lets see what the races show us!

Only joking, but yeah I guess he would have to be classed as American more than British.
