Try living here and doing a bit of commuting. You'll quickly change your mind about that.

Pah! What makes me laugh most about the Dutch is the whining about a near-perfect public transport system. Clearly, none of them have tried taking a train in the UK. Try commuting in Britain, and then get back to me about the awful trains in Holland where you sometimes have to wait for as much as five minutes.

Pft, ...., you guys don't know .... about awful public transit.  Get back to me after you attempt to use public anything in Los Angeles.  Assuming you don't get stabbed or shot to death, when in the rare happenstance you actually do find a public form of transportation.  You'd do better performing a lobotomy with a rusty spoon than to get anywhere around here.

I lived within walking distance of a bus terminal hub when I was living in L.A., I walked there from the place I lived and took the express bus to downtown L.A.  Found that quite useful to avoid the daily commute to work.  But other than that, I agree, you're in no man's land taking public transportation in L.A.  I don't miss L.A. much.

First of all, UK transit is one of the best in Thee world. The problem is u Euros/Brits got it so good u dont know .... about .... transportation. ...., u fuckers complain about wall to wall MotoGP and all things motorsport TV coverage u ....... enjoy, but take for granted. If u ever get tired of living ur rockstar lifestyle brotha, come ride the NYC or LA rail "system". U'll commit suicide. Nice short swift death.

2nd, no need to ride public transit when u come to Laguna Seca. U will be shuttled VI-fuckingP everywhere. The only thing u'll have to worry about is choosing between which tasty beer u want. That includes several visits to the tittie bars in SoCal. Where the breasts are large, fake, and every bit of glorious.

I think a vote is required, although I get the feeling the new fun police (Mascari) may not find a fake -vs- real tittles acceptable.

I did - worked there for 8 months in total. Stayed in Haarlem, worked near the airport.

A motorcycle was the answer to my commuting blues - you should try it ;)

Firstly UK transit is deffo the best in the world!

When: You are a visitor, picked up from the airport, and driven everywhere like royalty!

When the fcuk have you used it to comment.

"Yoda voice" Mmm never me thinks! ;)

A few week ago I had to go to london for a meeting. train sheffield to london 2hrs 50mins I think it was supposed to be.

Got on train got to Derby, all change to the busses outside to Northampton. On bus to motorway, Traffic jam!

Finaly get to Northampton, back on train and into London 3hrs late!

Missed the meeting! Then had to go through the whole Fcuking thing again to get home!

16hrs out of the house to accomplish fcuk all!

BEST IN THE WORLD MY ARSE moderate that!

Secondly

Your gripes about our coverage is just a blatant show of bitterness, and has no part in our gripe about transport!

But while we are there. BBC coverage is ..... and unfortunately expect it to get worse.

Anyone who has decent coverage has to pay for it you know,

I do sympathise that you cannot get a decent provider though ;)

Edit. ps confidence restored ;)

german public transport + racing coverage ftw

i remember the last time i was in england how natural it seemed to everybody that a train arrives 5-10 minutes late.

its a train for gods sake, its on rails and there are no traffic lights/flat tyres. no excuse for it being late.if it snows, clear the track.its not that hard.

hey bout you fly to nürnberg (costs way less than 50 bucks from stanstead) to my place and we then take a train to brno via prague for a night and pick up some supplies for mr. i don't like big ........ trains cheap and reliable + fun when you travel with buddies.

Yeah, it's always the guys that don't have to use our public transport system during the week and durign peak commuting hours that say that. If I'd only take the train on Sundays or on weekdays after 9 o' clock, I'd believe it too.

It's not about the delays, delays are a part of life if you travel by train. It's about being stuffed into dangerously overcrowded compartments for long durations (if you're lucky enough to get in at all), barely being able to stand, with people occasionally fainting. And the regular complete breakdowns of some sections of the service.

Who says I haven't used the system during the week or during peak commuting hours? I usually fly on a Wednesday and return on a Monday, and have to travel home - including a trip via Amsterdam and Utrecht - with a large suitcase. For some reason, my flight on Monday always manages to get me to Schiphol around 5:30pm....

EDIT: Like I said, try using a train in the UK, then get back to me.

So you're not a daily commuter, are you? Moreover, the Randstad is busy, but the real trouble is on the lines in the periphery. Utrecht - Groningen, for example, or Roermond - Nijmegen.

Not any more. But I was between 1997 and 2008.

I'm not denying there are problems. I am saying that the problems on the Dutch rail system are incredibly first world. of the "ouch, my diamond shoes are pinching" type. Rather than of the "There'll be a train along on Thursday. Probably."

Our rail system is infinitely worse than urs. Fcuk off.

:)

That's what I'm talking about... I've used Amtrak, and it was ... charmingly quaint.

Sure, sure. I'll think of that the next time I have to wait for 4 hours for a train that's not coming at all anymore, and try to fight the other 300+ people for a place in the single bus that the NS has managed to get a hold of as a replacment. Or the next time I have my face stuck to the door for an hour on my way to Groningen. Or the next time I have the ..... in a train without a toilet. Or the next time the temperature drops slightly under 0, which of course means total ....... chaos and half the trains scratched.

But hey, nothing to see here, move along, right? I'm sensing a pattern with you, hehe.
