[font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Please, feel free to post links to the insiders that have stated he is on inferior parts and has been forced to accept bike settings against his will.
In Spies own words: "[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]This has definitely been the worst season so far. But it can only go on so long, and we have been putting together some decent results. And when we have been in position, we would have put in some decent results if we hadn't had failures and basically out of anybody's control. Out of the tires, we had a broken seat in the first round and then a swingarm that broke and then the visor problem that I had. It is a lot of problems that are no one's real fault, and it has been a lot of bad luck, and we have also showed good potential, too. So I think when it comes together, we can be right there."[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Doesn't sound like he is complaining about the bike he has been given.[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]What Kropotkin has said: "[/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Spies' problems have just about all been attributable to misfortune this season, but even then, Yamaha will start to lose patience at some point."[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"[/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]A series of problems - a broken subframe at Qatar, setup problems at Jerez, as well as a string of costly errors on Spies' own part - have seen the Texan score poorly all season, despite often showing well during qualifying."[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"[/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Since the beginning of this season, relations have grown steadily worse. Spies was expected - and expected himself - to be regularly on the podium, and taking regular wins. Yet tensions have been growing, with reports of a general feeling that 'something was wrong' in Spies' side of the garage[/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"Another source reports that the control that Spies and his crew had over the setup of their bike was limited, with Yamaha asking the Texan to help test parts for Lorenzo's title chase. Whether these reports are true or not" - that isn't the same as you said and semantically some way off "[/background]those on the inside that have reported the above scenario as being very likely." - he says, with emphasis - whether those reports are true or not - the way you said it, Dave stated that as being fact. Supposition and fact are not good bedfellows.
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"[/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)] After the collapsed suspension at the last race in Laguna Seca, and a cracked subframe at Qatar, Spies' run of bad luck is starting to look statistically improbable. The fact that the engine that blew up was the engine he had crashed during QP will only add fuel to that particular fire."[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]What Lin Jarvis has said: [/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"That said, I'd like to talk a little bit about Ben, because he's had a torrid season this year, he's had all sorts of unfortunate incidents, we talked about two of them just now, at his two home races, he's had some illness problems as well, he's also made some mistakes himself. So he's had a hard year but he has a lot of potential, still has a lot of potential in the seven races still to go."[/background]
I'm sorry if you thought I was pissing on your hero, but I believe, and still do, your understanding of the dynamics within a multi-million-dollar racing organisation such as Yamaha Racing are flawed. They spend around $10M on each riders' bike each season, plus the $50M or so for shipping them around, R&D, crews, etc. Deliberately giving the guy sub-standard equipment is just incomprehensible.[/font]
