Woody where are the facts to support your statement? I don't think it was a question of stoner not developing the Ducati. More so, as with Rossi, he didn't get the developments he wanted
My wild guess would be results

Stoner is current king of moaners with his comments towards Rossi ... yeah, like Rossi has an engineering degree and can build a bike chassis, or lay fiber, or build eletronic control systems, or work the bearing gap in Rods, or set piston ring gap, or and the million other things that one needs to know to make a complete mechanical package the best it can be -- if you want stupid statements, Stoner is the king of them.
Frig, please excuse my poor reading skills... Never mind!He says that he was told after Mugello, rather than after the announcement. He was, after all, already at Laguna when he made the announcement, so too late for "don't show up".
A simple tracing of Stoner's results on the Ducati, the wins decreased the longer he was on it and still noone else could ride the thing.
From crash.net: Maybe if Yamaha gave Ben a bike that didn't chatter off the track, break in half and ....... blow up he might do better!
Is Spies getting Jorge's used engines ?
Thats absolute crap!!
It was quite clear that yesterday Ben had a good engine, otherwise he would not have been running away with it at front ..... giving 120% ........ which I think equates to 80% in Yamacalc. ??
So no .... brand new engine ....... its just that Ben should not be in front of Jorge, especially at this stage of the WC.
So a "magic button" is pushed back at YamaHQ and mysteriously Spies engine fails and jorge picks up the extra 5 or so points.!
Uncle Carmello was using his "auto highside" remote control in free practice and qualifying before swapping to his "engine self destruct" remote during the race......only non-euro riders qualify for these free "upgrades"
Ben's performances (or lack of) this year are not a reflection of his talent or potential. There are surely other factors causing him grief apart from poor form and bad luck. I feel MotoGp has become a spectical for the European bike fans at the expense of fans from elsewhere. Yamaha and Dorna are in each other's pockets. From Dorna's perspective, it would be good business to see their boy (Lorenzo) stays well on top of his American team-mate. I'm not suggesting Spies is Lorenzo's equal (not even close). But surely all this bad luck can't be coincidental. Also, I'm confident Ezy and his cronies pulled strings to get their yellow pantied show pony back with Yam for next year. We all remember Ezy's promise about Vale being on a competitive bike for next year... Maybe Ben has been sacrificed. Who the hell knows. It's all politics and business.
Now, I'm not saying Ben is totally innocent here and his poor performances are not his fault. But, there is a lot of .... going on behind the scenes. Stoner is quitting because of it. Now Ben is speaking up. It will be interesting to see what he has to say at year's end.
Just as an aside, because it pops up some many times in this discussion. Speaking as a European fan, I urge everyone to keep in mind that Spain (and Italy) is not Europe.
Maybe if Ben stopped crashing his bikes, those mechanical problems wouldn't be so evident.
With the current minuscule number of engines they are allowed for a season, a spectacular high-side like Spies had in practice would normally be followed by a change of bike/engine. Now they are jealously counting every engine, they cant afford to do that.
I suspect the heavy hit the bike got on Friday contributed to the blow up - just as the heavy fall he took in qualifying at Laguna contributed to his broken swingarm in the race.
It's easy for Pie eaters to point the finger at Yamaha and say it's all their fault, but his team-mate doesn't seem to be suffering from failures - but then again, his team-mate isn't binning the thing every time he goes out.
OK i will bite.
They check these things, any compnent thats in doubt wouldnt get used, end of.
I'd be very surprised if they don't.They aren't allowed to strip the engine. They are sealed. They don't have an x-ray machine to check the integrity of a swingarm.
In the good old days, they would have stripped and rebuilt the engine between practice and qualifying.
