Iannone's Kamikaze Thread

Perhaps Forcada wants the challenge to bring Maverick along to be Champion...instead of trying to win with Lorenzo on the Duc....

If Lorenzo doesnt win on the Duc, and he cant get back into Yamaha at the end of 2019 then he will retire...

I agree. There was talk of a split between Forcada and Jorge a year or 2 ago anyway, and Yamaha offers rather more job security and scope particularly if as far as Ducati is concerned he is only there because of Jorge. The whole Ducati thing is Gigi at the moment, and everything changes if he leaves, and doesn't necessarily look all that stable to me; I wonder whether the Philip Morris thing is forever or even whether VW/Audi is forever given their recent travails. Yamaha own themselves and have been both making motor bikes and racing bikes in the premier class for rather a while.

I can see JL retiring sooner rather than later as well.

Speaking of jorge.. Do u see him staying at ducati for the rest of his career or maybe move back to yama or maybe join honda or suzuki?

If Jorge gets Cristian Gabarrini as crew chief as reported, he should be fine. He may not be hot out the box. But I think he will improve over the term of his contract. It should have been Marc who took the Ducati. Outside of Stoner, he is the only person at this point in time who would win from the word go. The Suzuki would be a better choice for Jorge over the Honda if both were available to him. Ducati = lesser Honda, Suzuki = lesser yamaha but closer Honda.

Post 2018....

I dont see Jorge being able to return to Yamaha if, as i think will happen, Rossi becomes the Yamaha factory team manager or is a major part of the factory team management and sponsor....

Suzuki is a possibility if they stick around beyond the next 2 years....that is all now down to Iannone being successful on it...

KTM may be a possibility as well, we shall have to wait and see how good team orange is out of the box....and how well Bradley and Pol develop the bike in the next 2 years...

Honda is Jorge's only other option, and that is IF MM allowed it and JLo took a very 2nd rider role....

Does anyone think Jorge should be worried for next year? Or just take it as a learning development year to really attack the title in 2018

Total gut feeling, nothing to back it up, but, if JL isn't on a Duc in 2019, he replaces Pedro on a Honda. Like I said, total of the wall assumption.

For me Lorenzo will be quick on the duc and will win races. But I think the championship will be too much. I certainly think he ain't worried, he can't be ....... on it than Rossi.

I'll think he will be done after duc, I can't see him going to Honda or yam. He may continue on the duc though. It will be great to see three manufacturers dicing it out at the front, getting a bit tired of the yam and Honda show.

How many people are going .... their pants if George comes out on fire!!! That would be funny...

Haven't seen that report but if true, that will be a big plus for JL given Gabbarini's background at Ducati and what he had achieved there in the past

Simplifies things as well. If there is an existing/past Ducati guy who has been involved in 2 or 3 world championships including Ducati's only world championship available, this may be better than even Forcada with no such experience or pre-existing tenure at Ducati for all parties concerned. I also don't know how Forcada and Gigi got on at Aprilia; JL and he obviously had a good relationship but that doesn't necessarily extend to Forcada (EDIT Doesn't have any past relationship with Gigi presumably; I had forgotten he only started with Jorge when he went to Yamaha).

I don't see Vinales winning against MM on an HRC bike though to be honest whatever happens, even with a similar level of advantage to that the Yamaha appears to have currently.

I don't see Vinaeles beating MM either, after the last race I'm not convinced he has the race craft to do so. HRC surely fix the bikes problems by next year anyway.

I had high hopes for him at the start of the season, but he has become extremely reckless in the last 6 months (ever since he pulled off that pass at PI). So who else is he going to take out this season?
I wish to thank you for a marvelous piece of Iamapony art. I suppose I will have to change my handle here when he retires, or stops stomping other riders.
;-)

I am excited by the prospect of Jorge at Ducati. He was a winner before he went to Yamaha. Surely he now has the experience to tell the team and engineers what he needs. Of course it's up to Ducati to deliver a capable bike.

If the engine is too long or something of that nature, then maybe it's mission impossible but i am betting JL can make something happen.

In any case, I feel that he has been treated poorly on a personal level at Yamaha and am not sorry to see him leave. Here's to the future!

lets talk lorenzo on michelin first.
then lorenzo on ducati and michelin.
then lorenzo on ducati and michelin without forcada.

2nd in championship would be the best achievement for him in 2017-2018.

That would be crazy if in 2019 lorenzo wound up on the Honda in place of Pedrosa.

Even more bizarre if back at Yamaha in Rossi's spot.

If he fails on the Ducati and winds up back winning on a Yamaha

I do wish one of the lads would take a win this season, prove it can be done

This tickled me!

Thanks DB for bring this thread back!

My prediction is no carnage for atleast 2 races. After 2 he will have forgotten he's an ..... and bowl over 2.

No winglets though DB so they need to modify that a bit more, and it may be me but they look a bit like non standard tyres, not sure if SNS but definitely a unique tread pattern :)

And the colour! You can tell the allegiance there, seems to be looking toward Marquez for a takedown.
