I know this is pointless, but you do realise bringing up Doohan hardly helps your view of matters ?. He didn’t dominate for the rest of one season and all of the next after breaking his leg in a crash, but then went on to win 5 titles on the bounce, perhaps demonstrating that the crash which resulted in the near career ending injury wasn’t reflective of lack of talent. It is also probably not an urban myth that he once made a bike choice because only he could ride it, the screamer engine iirc.
You must be blind literally as well as figuratively to contend he can’t miraculously save a bike given everyone watched him routinely do so every weekend, often several times, for 7 years prior to his injury, the severity of which was the result of random chance iin how the bike contacted his arm.
Sure he is not perfect as a rider, he may well have not given great feedback to the Honda engineers, he crashes too much compared with some of the other greats like Lawson and Rossi, and the crash which broke his arm was unnecessary given he was trying to prove a point rather than improve his position/score more points in a race.. however his attitude is also what made him impervious to Rossi’s mind games and he is emboldened rather than dismayed by fans such as you, so it is actually a blessing for those of your ilk to keep motivating him to surpass Rossi’s records.
So on a bike on which his brother who couldn’t get near him on a Honda can win a sprint race he is highly likely to be competitive, and what you should fear is him being on a factory ride with a high chance of a title win the following season, and if on with a chance he won’t be throwing his bike down the road like your vaunted current Ducati riders, he learnt that lesson in 2015, the year he exposed Rossi.
